Recently, t s shown that the magnetohydrodynamc (MHD) flow has potental n clncal applcatons. In addton, dffuson tensor magng (DTI) swdely used as an exclusve clncal dagnostc method. To obtan the MHD flow velocty dstrbutons n three drectons, twelve acqustons wthflow-encodng gradents and external current njecton are needed. By choosng flow-encodng drectons carefully, t s possble to obtan MHD flowvelocty and DT dstrbutons from the MR phase and magntude mages of the same acquston. In ths study, the MHD flow and DT data of anmagng phantom are acqured smultaneously usng a spn echo based pulse sequence.

Magnetohydrodynamc (MHD) flow occurs due to the Lorentz force formed by the nteracton between the statc magnetc feld of the MR scanner andthe externally njected electrc current. The MR based magng of MHD flow has become a research feld of nterest recently. The MHD flow can beextracted from the MR phase mages obtaned usng a pulse sequence wth flow-encodng gradents. In ths study, the MHD flow dstrbutons of asmulated model and a homogeneous expermental phantom are obtaned. The MHD velocty contrast mages recons...
Dynamic stress concentrations around a single fiber break in unidirectional composites: a 3D finite element analysis
Mutlu, Çağlar; SABUNCUOĞLU, BARIŞ; Kadioglu, F Suat; Swolfs, Yentl (2023-01-01)
When a fiber break occurs in longitudinal tension of a unidirectional composite, dynamic stress concentrations arise, which can be different from the ones found considering only static loading. The current paper analyzes the dynamic stress concentration factors (SCF) around a fiber break in unidirectional carbon fiber/epoxy composites. 3D finite element models with random and hexagonal fiber distributions were analyzed to investigate the evolution of stress concentrations as a function of time and position....
Magnetic field and curvature effects on pair production. I. Scalars and spinors
Karabali, D.; Kürkcüoğlu, Seçkin; Nair, V. P. (American Physical Society (APS), 2019-9-17)
The pair production rates for spin-0 and spin-1/2 particles are calculated on spaces of the form M x R-1,R-1, with M corresponding to R-2 (flat); T-2 (flat, compactified); S-2 (positive curvature); and H-2 (negative curvature), with and without a background magnetic field on M. The motivation is to elucidate the effects of the curvature and background magnetic field. Contrasting effects for positive and negative curvature on the two cases of spin are obtained. For positive curvature, we find enhancement for...
Ensemble Modeling of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Processes at One Shot: Application to Kinematic Open-Channel Flow under Uncertain Channel Properties by the Stochastic Method of Characteristics
Ercan, Ali; Kavvas, M. L. (2012-01-01)
A stochastic kinematic wave model for open-channel flow under uncertain channel properties is developed. The Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) of the kinematic open-channel flow process under uncertain channel properties is developed by using the method of characteristics. Every stochastic partial differential equation has a one-to-one relationship with a nonlocal Lagrangian-Eulerian FPE (LEFPE). As such, one can develop an LEFPE for the governing equation of any hydrologic or hydraulic process as the physically...
Dynamic force analysis of a novel mechanism for chord and camber morphing wing under aerodynamic loading
Sahin, Harun Levent; Caklr, Bora Orçun; Yaman, Yavuz (2018-09-07)
In this paper, the dynamic force analysis of a novel deployable mechanism, called as scissor-structural mechanism (SSM), for active camber and chord morphing have been presented. The mechanism is created via combination of several scissor-like-elements (SLEs). With a novel kinematic synthesis concept, various types of scissor-like-elements are assembled together to provide the desired airfoil geometries. The types (translational, polar), the number of scissor-like-elements, their orientations with respect t...
