Magnetohydrodynamc (MHD) flow occurs due to the Lorentz force formed by the nteracton between the statc magnetc feld of the MR scanner andthe externally njected electrc current. The MR based magng of MHD flow has become a research feld of nterest recently. The MHD flow can beextracted from the MR phase mages obtaned usng a pulse sequence wth flow-encodng gradents. In ths study, the MHD flow dstrbutons of asmulated model and a homogeneous expermental phantom are obtaned. The MHD velocty contrast mages reconstructed usng smulated andexpermental measurements are consstent.

Experimental comparison of different minichannel geometries for use in evaporators
Ağartan, Yiğit Ata; Güvenç Yazıcıoğlu, Almıla; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2012)
This thesis investigates the refrigerant (R-134a) flow in three minichannels having different geometries experimentally. During the last 40 years heat transfer in small scales has been a very attractive research area. Improvements in heat transfer in the refrigeration applications by means of usage of micro/minichannels provide significant developments in this area. Also it is known that experimental studies are very important to constitute a database which is beneficial for new developments and research. D...
Critical behaviour of the dielectric constant for the smectic AC* transition under the electric field in ferroelectric liquid crystals
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2012-01-01)
The temperature dependencies of the dielectric constant and the tilt angle (order parameter) are calculated under the electric field for the smectic A-smectic C* (AC*) transition in 4-(3-methyl-2-chlorobutanoyloxy)-4'-heptyloxybiphenyl (A7). The dielectric constant is fitted to the experimental data by using our mean field model with the biquadratic coupling between the spontaneous polarisation P and the tilt angle theta. Our results show that the mean field model with the P-2 theta(2) coupling describes sa...
Spontaneous symmetry breaking at two loop in 3-d massless scalar electrodynamics
Tan, PN; Tekin, Bayram; Hosotani, Y (Elsevier BV, 1996-11-21)
In three-dimensional Maxwell-Chem-Simons massless scalar electrodynamics with phi(6) coupling, the U(1) symmetry is spontaneously broken at two loop order regardless of the presence or absence of the Maxwell term. Dimensional transmutation takes place in pure Chem-Simons scalar electrodynamics. The beta function for the phi(6) coupling is independent of gauge couplings.
Beforehand obtaining a safety operation condition by using daily load curves in transient stability and graphical software for transient stability applications
Öztop, Celal; Ertaş, Arif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this thesis, relationship between two most important transient stability indices, critical clearing time and generator rotor angle is examined for one machine-infinite bus system and then extended to the multimachine case and is observed to be linear. By using the linear relationship between critical clearing time and generator rotor angle and utilizing the daily load curve, a new preventive method is proposed. The aim of this method is to make all critical clearing times longer than the relay and circui...
Investigation of microwave metamaterial based on H-shaped resonator in a waveguide configuration and its sensor and absorber applications
Sabah, Cumali; Taygur, Mehmet Mert; ZORAL, EMİNE YEŞİM (2015-04-13)
A microwave metamaterial (MTM) based on H-shaped resonator in a waveguide configuration is introduced and investigated both numerically and experimentally for X-band frequencies. The proposed model is designed and fabricated on both sides of the substrate and exhibits strong magnetic resonance at around 10.5GHz. Additionally, it has very simple design which improves and simplifies the fabrication process. Besides, only one single slab is used in the simulation and experiment which provides a reduction in th...
