Hydrogen production via steam reforming of glycerol
Göktürk, Sevil; Sezgi, Naime Aslı; Department of Chemical Engineering (2021-2-12)
Today, intensive studies are carried out on alternative energy sources that will replace fossil fuels due to its limited sources, soaring of prices and negative effects on people and environment. Hydrogen energy offers a solution to minimize these problems as a clean and renewable energy carrier. One of the most important applications of hydrogen is its use in fuel cell-derived vehicles. However, the implementation of hydrogen in the transport sector is limited by the difficulty of storage and the lack of i...

Hydrogen production over molybdenum loaded mesoporous carbon catalysts in microwave heated reactor system
Guler, Melih; Doğu, Timur; VARIŞLI, DİLEK (2017-12-15)
Ammonia decomposition reaction to produce COx free hydrogen over molybdenum incorporated mesoporous carbon based catalysts was studied in a microwave heated reactor system. Mesoporous carbon is acting as the catalyst support as well as the microwave receptor in the reaction medium. While the highest conversion value was 49% in conventionally heated reaction system at 600 degrees C, total conversion value was achieved over the same catalyst at 400 degrees C in microwave heated system with a GHSV of 36,000 ml...
Hydrogen generation from hydrolysis of ammonia-borane using Pd-PVB-TiO2 and Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2 under stirred conditions
Rakap, Murat; Kalu, Egwu Eric; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2012-07-15)
The employment of Pd-PVB-TiO2 and Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2 in hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia-borane (H3NBH3, AB) under stirred conditions are reported. Both catalysts are found to be highly active, isolable, and reactivatable in the hydrolysis of ammonia-borane even at low concentrations and temperature. The Arrhenius activation energies were found to be 54.9 and 54.7 kJ mol(-1) for the hydrolysis of ammonia-borane catalyzed by Pd-PVB-TiO2 and Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2, respectively. Maximum hydrogen gener...
