Hydrogen production from ethanol over mesoporous alumina based catalysts and microwave reactor applications
Gündüz, Seval; Doğu, Timur; Department of Chemical Engineering (2014)
Due to fast depletion of fossil fuel resources and related environmental impact of CO2 emissions, the interest in hydrogen as a clean energy carrier has recently increased. Hydrogen production from bio-ethanol, which already contains large amount of water, by steam reforming process, has shown excellent potential with CO2 neutrality and renewability. Steam reforming of ethanol (SRE) process has a highly complex reaction network including numerous side reactions which decrease hydrogen yield and have a negat...
Hydrogen production over molybdenum loaded mesoporous carbon catalysts in microwave heated reactor system
Guler, Melih; Doğu, Timur; VARIŞLI, DİLEK (2017-12-15)
Ammonia decomposition reaction to produce COx free hydrogen over molybdenum incorporated mesoporous carbon based catalysts was studied in a microwave heated reactor system. Mesoporous carbon is acting as the catalyst support as well as the microwave receptor in the reaction medium. While the highest conversion value was 49% in conventionally heated reaction system at 600 degrees C, total conversion value was achieved over the same catalyst at 400 degrees C in microwave heated system with a GHSV of 36,000 ml...
Hydrogen generation from solid state NaBH4 by using FeCl3 catalyst for portable proton exchange membrane fuel cell applications
Boran, Asli; Erkan, Serdar; Eroğlu, İnci (Elsevier BV, 2019-07-12)
Being a boron-based compound, sodium borohydride, NaBH4, is a convenient hydrogen storage material for applications like unmanned air vehicles. There are several concerns behind commercialization of hydrogen gas generator by NaBH4 hydrolysis systems. This study aims to contribute to the solution of the problems of NaBH4 hydrolysis system in three main ways. First, the usage of solid state NaBH4 enables to increase the durability and the gravimetric H-2 storage capacity of the system in order to meet US DOE ...
