Helicopter parameters estimation from subspace identification by constrained nonlinear optimization

© Statement The authors confirm that they, and/or their company or organization, hold copyright on all of the original material included in this paper.Subspace identification uses well-understood techniques based on linear algebra and numerical methods. However, the state space model matrices which are obtained from conventional subspace identification algorithms are not necessarily associated with the physical states. This may be evaluated as a deficiency for the area of helicopter flight dynamics where physical parameter estimation is mainly conducted for mathematical model improvement, aerodynamic parameter validation and flight controller tuning. There are a limited number of studies in literature, which tackle this problem. Some of these studies are based on nonlinear optimization. However this optimization problem may have infinitely many solutions if we do not define well-founded constraints. It may be possible to estimate the real physical parameters by establishing the constraints which compatible with practical values. This study focuses on to the determination physical constraints for the parameters which are confined to the problem described here. For this purpose, the subjected parameters are examined according to their physical meaning. Both the expected theoretical values and the experimental knowledge are evaluated to determine the constraints. Then, many runs are conducted for these predefined constraints with randomly selected initial conditions.

Group representation theory and radar ambiguity functions
Kama, Eren Berk; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-2)
In this thesis, representations of Heisenberg group are applied to ambiguity functions and their properties are investigated in with an information theoretic perspective with applications in telecommunications and signal processing. Algebraic properties of ambiguity functions were investigated through application of representation theory. Novel approaches on phase space tiling are given and some existing methods for traditional ambiguity functions were extended to MIMO ambiguity functions. Irreducible repre...
Realistic Workload Generation for Cloud Data Centers Bulut Veri Merkezleri icin Gercekci Is Yuku Uretimi
Koltuk, Furkan; Schmidt, Şenan Ece (2020-10-05)
© 2020 IEEE.This paper proposes a new method for creating synthetic workload traces in accordance with the distribution and time characteristics of a given actual workload trace. To this end, we first find the distribution that fits to the actual workload trace, then rearrange the random samples that are generated from this distribution such that the final synthetic trace has time characteristics that are similar to the actual trace. We evaluate our method using real virtual machine and task request traces ...
On reciprocal improvement in multimodal generation Co-reference by text and information graphics
Chrıstopher, Habel; Acartürk, Cengiz (2007-01-31)
In this paper, we argue that in the production of complex documents combining text and information graphics, improvement—seen as a specific revision process—has to be considered as an independent module in a multi-pass architecture. Inside improvement, graph comprehension and text comprehension modules interact in building up a common content representation based on a conceptual inventory specified via topological and geometrical concepts. During concurrent comprehension the reciprocal improvement module in...
Selective word encoding for effective text representation
Ozkan, Savas; Ozkan, Akin (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, 2019-01-01)
Determining the category of a text document from its semantic content is highly motivated in the literature and it has been extensively studied in various applications. Also, the compact representation of the text is a fundamental step in achieving precise results for the applications and the studies are generously concentrated to improve its performance. In particular, the studies which exploit the aggregation of word-level representations are the mainstream techniques used in the problem. In this paper, w...
3D Correspondence by Breadth First Search Frontiers
Sahillioğlu, Yusuf (null; 2009-06-01)
This paper presents a novel, robust, and fast 3D shape correspondence algorithm applicable to the two snapshots of the same object in arbitrary deformation. Given two such frames as triangle meshes with fixed connectivity, our algorithm first classifies vertices into Breadth-First Search (BFS) frontiers according to their unweighted shortest path distance from a source vertex. This is followed by the rigid or non-rigid alignment of the corresponding frontiers of two meshes as the second and final step. This...
