Sea level change over the global system has been studied by various observations during the historical period, and by Atmosphere-Ocean coupled Global Climate Models or General Circulation Models (AOGCMs) during 2000 - 2100 (IPCC Fourth Assessment Report). In this study, an introductory analysis on sea level change around the Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak coastlines during the 21st century is presented. The variation of the sea level change with respect to the spatial location along the Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak coastlines is determined by means of a statistical analysis of the historical tidal gauge data and satellite altimetry data on the observed sea level changes around the Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak coastlines. © 2011 ASCE.

Coastal vulnerability assessment to sea level rise integrated with analytical hierarchy process
Özyurt, Gülizar; Ergin, Ayşen; Baykal, Cüneyt (2010-12-01)
This paper discusses a parameter based coastal vulnerability assessment model to sea level rise. The model integrates physical characteristics and human activities with expert perception through an application of analytical hierarchy process (AHP). The results of AHP enables users to assign weights to parameters of the model which determine vulnerability of a coastal area to the impacts of sea level rise such as coastal erosion, inundation, flooding due to storm surges, saltwater intrusion to groundwater an...
Climate Change Prompts Monitoring and Systematic Utilization of Honey Bee Diversity in Turkey
Kükrer, Mert; Bilgin, Cemal Can (2020-7-01)
Quantitative studies concerning the impact of climate change on pollinators are generally lacking. Relationship between honey bee diversity, present local adaptations and adaptive capacity of subspecies and ecotypes in the face of climate change is an urgent but rather poorly studied topic worldwide. Actually, such an effort lies at the crossroads of various fields of inquiry. Those include conservation of local honey bee diversity, breeding various local stocks for desirable traits, and enabling resilient ...
Trend Analyses of Meteorological Variables and Lake Levels for Two Shallow Lakes in Central Turkey
YAĞBASAN, ÖZLEM; Demir, Vandettin; Yazıcıgil, Hasan (2020-02-01)
Trend analyses of meteorological variables play an important role in assessing the long-term changes in water levels for sustainable management of shallow lakes that are extremely vulnerable to climatic variations. Lake Mogan and Lake Eymir are shallow lakes offering aesthetic, recreational, and ecological resources. Trend analyses of monthly water levels and meteorological variables affecting lake levels were done by the Mann-Kendall (MK), Modified Mann-Kendall (MMK), Sen Trend (ST), and Linear trend (LT) ...
Seasonal Changes in the Composition and Abundance ofZooplankton in the Seas of the Mediterranean Basin
Kovalev, Av; Mazzocchı, Mg; Toklu Alıçlı, Benin; Skryabın, Va; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan (2003-01-01)
Seasonal changes in the composition, abundance and biomass of zooplankton in the seas of the Mediterranean basin (the Mediterranean, Black and Azov seas) have been reviewed using our own data and data from the literature. In the deep-water central regions of the seas, the seasonal cycle of zooplankton abundance is characterised by one maximum occurring in spring or summer. In the coastal regions, two to three peaks (spring, summer and autumn) exist for the zooplankton abundance. The amplitude of seasonal fl...
Climate variability and deep water mass characteristics in the Aegean Sea
Georgiou, S.; Mantziafou, A.; Sofianos, S.; Gertman, I.; Ozsoy, E.; Somot, S.; Vervatis, V. (2015-01-15)
The main objective of this study is to investigate the variability of the thermohaline characteristics of the deep-water masses in the Aegean Sea and the possible impact of the regional atmospheric forcing variability by analyzing the available oceanographic and atmospheric datasets for the period of 1960-2012. During this period the variability of the deep water characteristics of the Aegean sub-basins is found to be very large as well as the diversity of the deep water characteristics among the sub-basins...
