Design Thinking: A Model Development Based On Archived Documents
Akpınar, Abdullah; Xu, Mengyuan; Brooks , Kerry R. (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2015-12-15)
Designing in a cross-cultural context : an analysis of Brazilian, Italian, Japanese and Turkish students' design methods
Nichetti, Claudia; Bertoletti, Roberta; Van der Linden, Julio; Bohemia, Erik; Kaygan, Pınar; Bernardes, Mauricio (2019-01-01)
The objective of this article is to analyse the relationship between the use of methods and processes used in the local mobility projects of Global Studio 2018. The Global Studio is an annual project that promotes the exchange between groups with different cultures and that covers different countries. In 2018, the proposed theme was solutions for local mobility and the countries involved are Brazil, Italy, Japan and Turkey. For this, projects developed in the disciplines of the design course were analysed w...
Design strategies for the development of home use medical devices: a study on CPAP devices
Okursoy, Mehmet Erçin; Börekçi, Naz Ayşe Güzide Z.; Department of Industrial Design (2021-9-09)
Medical device development and design (MDDD) is one of the sectors with the highest level of safety regulations offering almost risk free products. Actors participating in the development process of these devices (governments, investors, non-governmental organizations, patients, etc.) not only create these highly strict regulations but also define boundaries for the design space in which design strategies are structured. These requirements eliminate suspicions over safety issues and also create a hard shell...
Design implications of analytical and laboratory studies of permanent abandonment plugs
Akgün, Haluk (Canadian Science Publishing, 1999-02-01)
We analyze analytically and numerically the stress distribution along the plug-rock interface and within an axially loaded plug emplaced in a borehole in rock. Experiments show that the interface strength increases with decreasing plug radius and with increasing plug length. Axial strength decreases as a power law of plug radius. An increase in the modulus ratio (ratio of plug modulus to rock modulus) increases the interface strength, until it levels off at a ratio of about 5.0. For short plugs, the tensile...
