© 2022 Elsevier B.V.Double‐decker phthalocyanines were synthesized by a classical method with phthalonitrile and lanthanide metal salts, europium and lutetium acetate. Non-covalent double-decker phthalocyanine-reduced graphene oxide (MPc2/rGO) composites were then prepared by simple sonication method. All the phthalocyanines were peripheral tetrasubstituted 5-(3-pyridyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole. Following spectroscopic and morphological characterisation, fabricated composites were subjected to detailed electrochemical analysis. EuPc2/rGO and LuPc2/rGO composite electrodes showed specific capacitance values of 115 F/g and 86 F/g, respectively. Coulombic efficiency values for those materials were determined as 85% and 74%, respectively, at a significant current density of 5 A/g. Following 5000 cycles, EuPc2/rGO and LuPc2/rGO electrodes retained 93% and 99% of their initial capacitance, respectively. These results demonstrated the significant electrochemical performance of double-decker phthalocyanines and can be certainly extended to other metal salts or other composite formers with double-decker phthalocyanines.

Thin-film microextraction coupled to LC-ESI-MS/MS for determination of quaternary ammonium compounds in water samples
Boyacı, Ezel; Pawliszyn, Janusz (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2014-01-01)
The dual nature of the quaternary ammonium compounds, having permanently charged hydrophilic quaternary ammonium heads and long-chain hydrophobic tails, makes the sample preparation step and analysis of these compounds challenging. A high-throughput method based on thin-film solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry was developed for simultaneous quantitative analysis of nine benzylic and aliphatic quaternary ammonium compounds. Chromatographic separation and detection o...
Synthesis of selenophene substituted benzodithiophene and fluorinated benzothiadiazole based conjugated polymers for organic solar cell applications

A series of alternating conjugated copolymers which contain selenophene modified benzodithiophene and fluorine bearing benzothiadiazole have been synthesized via Stille polycondensation reaction to investigate the effect of the number of fluorine atoms substituted to the benzothiadiazole. Three different polymers, PBDTSe-BT, PBDTSe-FBT and PBDTSe-FFBT, were reported and their electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical, and photovoltaic behaviors were examined. Density functional theory calculations were perfor...

In this study, synthesis of two multifunctional acetic acid functionalized carbazole bearing monomers; 243,6-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno [3,4-b] [1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-9H-carbazol-9-yl)acetic acid (Ml) and 3,6-dithien-2-yl-9H car bazol-9-ylaceticacid (M2) via Stille cross-coupling reaction was reported. Obtained monomers were electro-chemically polymerized in 0.1 M TBAPF(6)/DCM/ACN (5:95, v:v) solution and characterized in terms of electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic switching behaviors. When po...
Polyhydroxybutyrate-Coated Magnetic Nanoparticles for Doxorubicin Delivery: Cytotoxic Effect Against Doxorubicin-Resistant Breast Cancer Cell Line
Yalcin, Serap; Unsoy, Gozde; Mutlu, Pelin; Khodadust, Rouhollah; Gündüz, Ufuk (2014-11-01)
In this study, polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB)-coated magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were prepared by coprecipitation of iron salts (Fe2+ and Fe3+) by ammonium hydroxide. Characterizations of PHB-coated MNPs were performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, dynamic light scattering, thermal gravimetric analysis, vibrating sample magnetometry, and transmission electron microscopy analyses. Doxorubicin was loaded onto PHB-MNPs, and the release efficiencies at different pHs were studied un...
Chemical synthesis of pure and Gd-doped CaZrO3 powders
Gonenli, IE; Tas, AC (1999-01-01)
Aqueous solutions of calcium chloride (CaCl2.2H(2)O) and zirconium oxychloride (ZrOCl2.8H(2)O), in appropriate volumetric amounts, were used as the starting chemicals in the synthesis of phase-pure CaZrO3 powders. Rare earth element dopings (up to 25 at%) were performed by using the aqueous chloride solutions of gadolinium (Gd). Formation of CaZrO3 powders were achieved by two different chemical synthesis techniques: (i) self-propagating combustion synthesis, and (ii) precipitation in the presence of EDTA b...
