Petrology of the Eocene volcanism in the central anataolia: implication for the early tertiary evolution of the Central Anatolian crystalline complex
Geneli, Fatma; Güncüoğlu, M. Cemal; Kuşcu, Gonca; Department of Geological Engineering (2011)
In the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex (CACC) the Late Cretaceous post-collisional granitic magmatism is followed by Eocene extension, resulting in formation of roughly E-W trending transtensional basins. Formation of these basins was accompanied by calc- alkaline- mildly alkaline volcanism. The volcanic rocks, mainly subaques lava flows and subareal domes are concentrated along these basins and associated with Middle Eocene (Bartonian) Mucur Formation. They are basic to intermediate and are classifie...
Distance-based discretization of parametric signal manifolds
Vural, Elif (2010-06-28)
The characterization of signals and images in manifolds often lead to efficient dimensionality reduction algorithms based on manifold distance computation for analysis or classification tasks. We propose in this paper a method for the discretization of signal manifolds given in a parametric form. We present an iterative algorithm for the selection of samples on the manifold that permits to minimize the average error in the manifold distance computation. Experimental results with image appearance manifolds d...
Invariant manifolds and Grobman-Hartman theorem for equations with degenerate operator at the derivative
Karasözen, Bülent; Loginov, B (2003-01-01)
Analog of Grobman-Hartman theorem about stable and unstable manifolds solutions for differential equations in Banach spaces with degenerate Fredholm operator at the derivative are proved. In contrast to usual evolution equation here central manifold arises even in the case of spectrum absence on the imaginary axis. Jordan chains tools and implicit operator theorem are used. The obtained results allow to develop center manifold methods for computation of bifurcation solution asymptotics and their stability i...
Tenure choice and demand for homeownership in Ankara
Alkan, Leyla; Türel, Ali; Department of City and Regional Planning (2011)
Housing is a basic requirement for all individuals in every country. Being one of the main tools of urban planning, housing contains different social, economic, psychological, and design aspects, and it attracts attention of different disciplines. A review of the theoretical models, data, and empirical methods reveals deficiencies in all areas of housing sector in Turkey. Especially, there is an important gap in the literature about housing tenure choice. A new research agenda focusing on households’ tenure...
Designing lost circulation pills for polymer based drill-in fluids
Kahvecioğlu, Alper; Akın, Serhat; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2008)
Specially designed non-damaging lost circulation pills (LCP) are being effectively applied for drilling depleted zones worldwide. Optimizing the LCP compositions stop the lost circulation effectively and protect the production zone from liquid and solids invasion significantly. Shape, particle size distribution and concentration of the lost circulation materials (LCM) are key parameters determining the effectiveness of LCP. In this study, the Permeability Plugging Apparatus (PPA) is utilized to evaluate eff...
