Preparation, characterization, and photocatalytic activity of solar light sensitive g-C3N4/TiO2 nanocomposites
Öztürk, Abdullah (2021-10-12)
Solar light sensitive 2-dimensional (2D) graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4)/titanium dioxide (TiO2) heterojunction nanocomposites were prepared to enhance visible light activity of TiO2. Preparation of the nanocomposites was accomplished by hydrothermal growth of TiO2 nanoparticles on the surfaces of g-C3N4 particles in one step. The g-C3N4 content of the composites varied from 20 to 90 wt%. The composite containing 80 wt% g-C3N4 was additionally subjected to a regulated heat treatment at temperatures...
Preparation and thermal characterization of poly(2-vinylpyridine) copolymers coordinated to Cr nanoparticles
Öztürk, Yurdagül; Kayran, Ceyhan; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2015-06-01)
In this study, polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine), PS-b-P2VP, polyisoprene-block-poly(2-vinylpyridne), PI-b-P2VP and poly(methyl metacrylate)-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine), PMMA-b-P2VP, coordinated to Cr metal were synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared, transmission electron microscopy and direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry techniques. Both thermal degradation mechanism and thermal stability of P2VP blocks were affected by the coordination of Cr nanoparticles to nitrogen of pyridine...
Preparation and Photocatalytic Activity of Solar Light Sensitive g-C3N4/TiO2 Heterojunction Nanocomposites
Gündoğmuş, Pelin; Park, Jongee; Öztürk, Abdullah (2021-06-10)
The solar light sensitive g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction nanocomposites were prepared in one step hydrothermal process by growing TiO2 nanoparticles on the surfaces of g-C3N4 particles. The g-C3N4 content of the composites varied from 20 to 90 wt%. The composite containing 80 wt% g-C3N4 was additionally subjected to a regulated heat treatment at different temperatures in the range from 350 to 500 oC for 1 h to improve the photocatalytic activity. XRD, FESEM, and DRS characterization techniques were app...
Preparation and Characterization of Low Density Polyethylene/Ethylene Methyl Acrylate Glycidyl Methacrylate/Organoclay Nanocomposites
Coskunses, Fatma Isik; Yılmazer, Ülkü (Wiley, 2011-06-05)
The effects of organoclay type, compatibilizer, and the addition order of components during melt-blending process on the morphology and thermal, mechanical, and flow properties of ternary nanocomposites based on low-density polyethylene (LDPE) were investigated. As a compatibilizer, ethylene/methyl acrylate/glycidyl methacrylate (E-MA-GMA), as organoclays Cloisites (R) 15A, 25A, and 30B were used. All samples were prepared by a corotating twin screw extruder, followed by injection molding. The highest incre...
Preparation and characterization of thermally stable organoclays and their use in polymer based nanocomposites
Abdallah, Wissam; Yılmazer, Ülkü; Department of Chemical Engineering (2010)
The present study was aimed at exploring the purification and modification of montmorillonite rich Turkish bentonites by organic salts and their subsequent effects on the morphology (X-diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy), melt flow index, mechanical (Tensile, Impact) and especially thermal stability (thermal gravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry) properties of polymer/organoclay nanocomposites with and without an elastomeric compatibilizer. The b...
