Cenap Şahabettin Suriye Mektupları

2022-10-01
Her seferim onun yüzünde bir tabaka-i şeyhuhet bırakmış…

Further Observations On The ‘Çoban Mustafa Paşa’ Mosque At Gebze
Barakat, Heba Nayel (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 1993)
The concern of this paper is to contribute to the double controversy confronting researchers when approaching the complex of Çoban Mustafa Paşa; the first being the problem of its attribution to an architect and secondly, the degree to which the marble work is of late Mamluk origin. The architecture, material and structural decoration of the Çoban Mustafa Paşa mosque found at Gebze can be considered a traditional monument of the early 16th century in Anatolia. It's structural decorations such as the portal,...
The architectural cogitatio: a phenomenological critical realist contact for the ethico-political prognosis of the 21st century architecture theory
Eşingen Kınayoğlu, Günce; Basa, İnci; Department of Architecture (2022-2)
The thesis puts forward architecture as the perceptual object of its agency; and sees its totality as imagery derived from the contemporary discursive mechanisms at the turn of the millennium and the following two decades. Through the term cogitation from Latin philosophy, the study covers the status of architecture between phenomenological brackets by articulating its disciplinary sphere as an object of its own reflexivity. It proposes a framework to weave the present and emergent diagnostic positions to c...
A Study on portal composition and its contribution to façade design in Anatolian Seljuk buldings
Caner, Çağla; Bakırer, Ömür; Department of Architecture (2002)
The forms, articulation and compositions of the facades of the monumental buildings displayed a recognizable character during the era of the Anatolian Seljuks in Asia Minor. Even though no two facades appear to be the same with their constitutive elements and with the articulation in their compositions, they seem to attain remarkable similarities. Within the general formulation of the facade compositions, the gateways namely the portals (taçkapı) come forth to reflect the architectural facade concepts of th...
Stylistic Evolution Of Ottoman Mosque Facades In Sinan's Era
Erzen, Jale (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 1986)
This paper has tried to account for facade transformations of Sinan's era, through the analysis of basic structural properties and facade elements of mosques. Mosques being the most socially significant edifices of the time, these transformations indicate the changing attitudes towards space, structure and meaning of buildings and the stylistic changes of Ottoman architecture at large, during the second half of the Sixteenth Century. A detailed analysis of the external influences that have brought about the...
