On the dual role of the reactant during aqueous phase hydrodechlorination of trichloroethylene (HDC of TCE) using Pd supported on swellable organically modified silica (SOMS)
Ailawar, Saurabh; Hunoor, Anagha; Rudzinski, Benjamin; Çelik, Gökhan; Burel, Laurence; Millet, Jean-Marc; Miller, Jeffrey T.; Edmiston, Paul L.; Ozkan, Umit S. (2021-08-01)
Herein, the dual role of trichloroethylene (TCE) in liquid-phase hydrodechlorination with Pd catalysts supported on swellable organically modified silica (SOMS), is investigated. Batch experiments with TCE-soaked Pd/SOMS showed 45% higher conversion after 4 h than dry Pd/SOMS, suggesting that TCE acts as a reactant and as a swelling-agent. Flow experiments performed with and without ethanol (external swelling-agent) exhibited similar steady-state activities, confirming that TCE itself can cause swelling. Mo...

On the Structure Sensitivity of CO Oxidation on Alumina Supported Pd-Pt Bimetallic Catalysts
Kaya, Sarp; Erunal, Ebru; Shaltaf, Riad; Ellialtıoğlu, Süleyman Şinasi; Üner, Deniz (2009-01-01)
CO oxidation reaction was studied over monometallic and bimetallic palladium-platinum catalysts at 25:75, 50:50, and 75:25 Pd:Pt atomic fractions co-impregnated over a gamma-Al2O3 support. The size of the metal particles, measured by modified hydrogen chemisorption, increased as the Pd fractions in the catalyst increased. The surface compositions and site metal distributions of the catalysts determined from Monte Carlo simulations indicated that Pd atoms segregated to the surface: at low Pd levels, Pd occup...
On the use of magnesium hydroxide towards halogen-free flame-retarded polyamide-6/polypropylene blends
Balakrishnan, Harintharavimal; HASSAN, Azman; IŞITMAN, Nihat Ali; Kaynak, Cevdet (2012-08-01)
Metal hydroxides have long been considered as abundant and low cost fillers towards the development of halogen-free flame-retarded polymers. In this study, magnesium hydroxide (MH) flame-retarded polyamide 6/polypropylene (PA6/PP) composites with various MH contents (20-50 wt%) were prepared and flame retardancy, thermal degradation, morphological, mechanical, thermal and thermo-mechanical characteristics were discussed. Mass loss calorimeter analysis revealed that the addition of MH provided improvements i...
On the profile of frequency dependent interface states and series resistance in Au/p-InP SBDs prepared with photolithography technique
Korucu, D.; Turut, A.; Turan, Raşit; Altindal, Ş. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-6-25)
The frequency dependent of the forward and reverse bias capacitance-voltage (C-V) and conductance-voltage (G/w-V) characteristics of Au/p-InP SBDs have been investigated in the frequency range of 20 kHz-10 MHz and voltage range of -5 - 5 V at room temperature. The effects of surface states (N (ss)) and series resistance (R (s)) on C-V and G/w-V characteristics have been investigated in detail. The frequency dependent N (ss) and R (s) profiles were obtained for various applied bias voltages. The experimental...
