The contribution of kinetoplast DNA to Leishmania major experimental infection and evaluation of Leishmania extracellular vesicle based vaccine against cutaneous Leishmaniasis in BALB/C mice
Ayanoğlu, İhsan Cihan; Gürsel, Mayda; Department of Biology (2019)
Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) is a neglected vector borne parasitic infection that manifests as self-healing skin lesions or cause debilitating large chronic or recurring lesions. CL is endemic in Turkey and its incidence rate is on the rise due to immigration of refugees from affected regions. Leishmania parasites harbor a unique mitochondrial DNA structure called kinetoplast DNA (kDNA), consisting of giant networks of catenated mini and maxi-circles. The role of kDNA in infection is poorly understood. In t...
Dynamic performances of kinematically and dynamically adjustable planar mechanisms
İyiay, Erdinç; Soylu, Reşit; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003)
In this thesis, the dynamic performances of kinematically and dynamically adjustable planar mechanisms have been investigated. An adjustable mechanism is here defined to be a mechanism where some of the kinematic and/or dynamic parameters are changed in a controlled manner in order to optimize the dynamic behaviour of the mechanism in spite of variable operating conditions. Here, variable operating conditions refer to variable load(s) on the mechanism and/or variable desired input motion. The dynamic behavi...
Protein İşlevlerinin Altdizi Analizi ile Büyük Ölçekte Öngörme Yöntemleri
Atalay, Mehmet Volkan; Dalkıran, Alperen; Rifaioğlu, Ahmet Süreyya; Atalay, Rengül(2017-12-31)
Proteinlerin işlevlerinin otomatik olarak etiketlenmesi (automatic protein function annotation), işlemsel biyolojinin (computational biology) önemli ve zor problemlerinden birisidir. Araştırma grubumuzun daha önceki çalışmalarında, yapay öğrenme (machine learning) yöntemleri yardımı ile altdizi benzerliğine dayalı öznitelik uzayı eşlemesi (subsequence similarity based feature mapping) kullanılarak protein dizilerinin işlevsel sınıflandırması için Subsequence Profile Map (SPMap) sistemini geliştirmiştik. Bu ...
Visualizing the protein-protein interactions network in virtual reality and mixed reality environments
Şenderin, Büşra; Sürer, Elif; Tunçbağ, Nurcan; Department of Modeling and Simulation (2021-8)
Protein-protein interactions (PPI) define the physical contact of two or more protein structures. When these interactions are combined, the protein-protein interaction network (PPIN) is formed. The interactions between protein structures are distinct interactions—they happen in specific binding locations on proteins, and they have a specific biological function that they take on. With these networks, the processes within a cell or a living organism when healthy or diseased can be studied. In this thesis, a ...
Design and synthesis of benzene-fused heterocycles: aminopyridazinones, chromenopyridinones and benzopyrazoloxazepines /
Keskin, Selbi; Balcı, Metin; Department of Chemistry (2015)
The interest in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds has increased day by day due to their biological activities. This study focuses on the synthesis of different benzene-fused heterocycles. In the first part, we synthesized novel class of compounds, 4-aminophthalazin-1(2H)-ones starting from methyl 2-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-benzoate. Methylene group in this starting material was oxidized to the corresponding ketoester. Reaction of ketoesters with hydrazine derivatives provided the hydrazone derivatives. ...
