Investigation of fluid rheology effects on ultrasound propagation
Özkök, Ozan; Uludağ, Yusuf; Department of Chemical Engineering (2012)
In this study, a mathematical model is developed for investigating the discrete sound propagation in viscoelastic medium to identify its viscoelastic properties. The outcome of the model suggests that pulse repetition frequency is a very important parameter for the determination of relaxation time. Adjusting the order of magnitude of the pulse repetition frequency, the corresponding relaxation time which has similar magnitude with pulse repetition frequency is filtered while the others in the spectrum are d...

Thickness analysis of thin films by energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy
Canlı, Sedat; Turan, Raşit; Akata Kurç, Burcu; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2010)
EDS is a tool for quantitative and qualitative analysis of the materials. In electron microscopy, the energy of the electrons determines the depth of the region where the X-rays come from. By varying the energy of the electrons, the depth of the region where the X-rays come from can be changed. If a thin film is used as a specimen, different quantitative ratios of the elements for different electron energies can be obtained. Unique thickness of a specific film on a specific substrate gives unique energy-rat...
Pulse Profiles of Swift J1626.6+5156
Baykal, Altan; Icdem, B. (2010-08-06)
In this paper, we analyzed pulse profiles of Swift J1626.6+5156 using the lightcurves from RXTE‐PCA observations between MJD 53724 (just after the outburst) and MJD 55113 and a Chandra‐ACIS dataset on MJD 54897 with a 20 ks exposure. We found that pulse profiles show morphological variations and pulsations do not cease even ∼1200 days after the outburst. Despite these variations, we did not find any significant variation in the pulsed fraction with decreasing X‐ray flux.
Social political discourse of the surveillance society
Yumurtacı, Egemen Nilüfer; Okyayuz, Mehmet; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2003)
This thesis aims to discuss the Surveillance Society discourse, especially in relation with political analysis in a historical framework by means of new technologies. This study also analyzes the use of so-called revolutionary information and telecommunication technologies for data recording and tracking is analyzed, which is used to regulate the order of the system by the power holders. The limits of thought are traced to Foucault and Lyon. To this context an attempt is made to show that surveillance/ moni...
