Electrolytic magnesium production and its hydrodynamics by using an Mg-Pb alloy cathode
Demirci, Goekhan; Karakaya, İshak (Elsevier BV, 2008-10-06)
Physical interaction of magnesium and chlorine was minimized by collecting magnesium in a molten Ph cathode at the bottom of the electrolyte and placing anode at the top where the chlorine gas was evolved. Thus the magnesium losses associated with the formation of suspending droplets and fine magnesium particles were eliminated and current losses were mainly due to the recombination reaction of dissolved magnesium and chlorine. Current yield changed by changing the tip angle of the conical anode. It was due...
Electroluminescence of (styrene-co-acrylic acid) ionomer/conjugated MEH-PPV blends
COSSIELLO, Rafael F.; Çırpan, Ali; KARASZ, Frank E.; AKCELRUD, Leni; Atvars, Teresa D.Z. (Elsevier BV, 2008-04-01)
This work reports the electroluminescence of poly[2-methoxy-5(2′-ethylhexyloxy)-p-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV) and poly(styrene-co-acrylic acid-co-1-pyrenylmethyl methacrylate) (SAA) blends in ratios from 0 to 100 wt.% in mass of MEH-PPV. The styrene-co-acrylic copolymer was synthesized with 3 mol% of acrylic acid units to simultaneously enhance blend miscibility and charge transport in MEH-PPV. The morphology was studied using epifluorescence microscopy and scanning electron microscopy in which the pyrenyl...
Electrospinning of chitosan/poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid)/hydroxyapatite composite nanofibrous mats for tissue engineering applications
Endoğan Tanır, Tuğba; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2014-11-01)
Electrospinning, which is a fiber fabrication technique using electrical forces to produce fibers with diameters ranging from nanometers to several micrometers, can be used to prepare materials mimicking the extracellular matrix proteins for potential use as tissue engineering scaffolds. In this study, nanofibrous mats of chitosan (CH) and poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) having fiber diameters between 167 to 525 nm, and containing hydroxyapatite (HAp), were prepared by electrospinning technique. M...
Electroluminescence of erbium doped silicon nitride films
Yerci, Selçuk; Dal Negro, L. (2010-12-01)
Electroluminescence at 980nm and 1535nm from erbium-doped silicon nitride films was reported and the Er effective excitation cross section was measured under electrical pumping. Erbium electroluminescence is observed at voltages as low as 5V. © 2010 Optical Society of America.
