Accelerated weathering performance of polylactide and its montmorillonite nanocomposite
Kaynak, Cevdet (2016-03-01)
The goal of this study was to compare accelerated weathering performance of neat polylactide (PLA) and its 1 mass% organically modified montmorillonite (Mt) nanocomposite; compounded and shaped by twin-screw extrusion melt mixing and injection molding, respectively. Accelerated weathering test system applied consecutive steps of UV irradiation and humidity in accordance with ISO 4892-3 standards for 200 h. Chain scission reactions such as photolysis, photooxidation and hydrolysis resulted in significant dec...
Comprehensive tracer testing in the Germencik field
Akın, Serhat (null; 2018-02-14)
Germencik Geothermal Field, which is one of the oldest high enthalpy geothermal fields in Turkey, is operational since 2009. As of 2017, two 47.4 MWe dual flash and four 22.5 MWe binary power plants have been constructed to exploit liquid dominated reservoir with feed zone temperatures as high as 234C. In order to optimize re-injection a tracer test where three different naphthalene sulfonates tracers were simultaneously injected into three different re-injection wells, was conducted. Quantitative and qual...
Dynamic analysis of removal and selective oxidation of H2S to elemental sulfur over Cu-V and Cu-V-Mo mixed oxides in a fixed bed reactor
Yasyerli, S; Dogu, G; Ar, I; Doğu, Timur (Elsevier BV, 2004-10-01)
Selective oxidation of H2S to elemental sulfur was studied using the Cu-V and Cu-V-Mo mixed oxide catalysts with different O-2/H2S ratios between 0 and 3. High activities and high sulfur selectivities reaching 0.98 were obtained with the Cu-V catalyst. The Cu-V-Mo mixed oxide catalyst showed higher activity with a somewhat less selectivity. The Cu-V catalyst, which was originally in the form of alpha-Cu2V2O7, was converted to Cu3VS4, CuS and VOx during the initial stages of reaction. Oxidized form of the ca...
Fast fluorometric enumeration of E. coli using passive chip
KASAP, ESİN NAGİHAN; DOĞAN, ÜZEYİR; ÇOĞUN, FERAH; Yıldırım, Ender; BOYACI, İSMAİL HAKKI; ÇETİN, DEMET; SULUDERE, ZEKİYE; TAMER, UĞUR; ERTAŞ, NUSRET (Elsevier BV, 2019-09-01)
In this report, a passive microfluidic chip design was developed for fast and sensitive fluorometric determination of Escherichia coli (E. coli) based on sandwich immunoassay. Initially, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and chitosan modified mercaptopropionic acid capped cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) were functionalized with E.coli specific antibody to form a sandwich immunoassay with the E. coli. The magnetic separation and preconcentration of the E.coli from the sample solution was performed in...
Rapid synthesis of aligned zinc oxide nanowires
Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Rupesinghe, Nalin; Dalal, Sharvari; Milne, William I.; Amaratunga, Gehan A. J. (IOP Publishing, 2008-06-25)
A solution growth approach for zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires is highly appealing because of the low growth temperature and possibility for large area synthesis. Reported reaction times for ZnO nanowire synthesis, however, are long, spanning from several hours to days. In this work, we report on the rapid synthesis of ZnO nanowires on various substrates (such as poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), silicon and glass) using a commercially available microwave oven. The average growth rate of our nanowires is deter...
