Delay Analysis for Wireless Communication Systems with Caching
Atak, Kunter; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda (2019-01-01)
In this work, a two-tier heterogeneous network is studied. Both base stations and end-devices are capable of caching. A suboptimal cache placement algorithm is proposed for lower delays assuming a statistical mobility model. The results are compared with a lower bound, the effects of the number of base stations and cache capacities are investigated, and the tradeoff between network load ratio and delay is shown.
Delay characteristics comparison of coherently coupled high-Q multi-cavity array and single embedded quantum dot cavity systems
Kocaman, Serdar; Sayan, Gönül (2017-01-31)
The optical analogue to electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is modeled for two separate systems with the same formalism and the spectral characteristics together with the generated group delay are compared. First system is a coherently coupled high-Q multi-cavity array which represents the classical EIT and is limited by the finite broadening of the cavity and the second one is a single embedded quantum dot (QD) cavity system, a cavity-QD EIT, that depends on both QD broadening and cavity propert...
Delay Risk Assessment of Repetitive Construction Projects Using Line-of-Balance Scheduling and Monte Carlo Simulation
Tokdemir, Onur Behzat; Dikmen Toker, İrem (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2019-02-01)
Although the line-of-balance (LOB) method is widely used for the scheduling of repetitive construction projects, there are only a limited number of studies that deal with the issue of how to incorporate uncertainty in repetitive schedules. In this paper, a delay risk assessment method is proposed for projects scheduled by LOB. In the proposed method, a LOB schedule is prepared considering the target rate of delivery, and then risk scenarios are defined considering the sources of uncertainty and vulnerabilit...
DELAY ESTIMATION BASED ON KINEMATIC TRACK INFORMATION WITHOUT TIME STAMPS
Ozgen, Selim; Sarıtaş, Elif; Orguner, Umut; Acar, Duygu (2014-04-25)
An algorithm to estimate the delay between two track files without time stamps in a distributed track fusion architecture is proposed. The main aim in delay estimation is to make the proceeding track fusion more accurately. The performance of the proposed algorithm is illustrated on an example in which two radars observe a common surveillance area with one radar sending the track information with a deterministic delay. Moreover, a method is proposed if the delay estimation algorithm presents a bad performan...
Delay and Peak-Age Violation Probability in Short-Packet Transmissions
Devassy, Rahul; Durisi, Giuseppe; Ferrante, Guido Carlo; Simeone, Osvaldo; Uysal, Elif (2018-06-22)
This paper investigates the distribution of delay and peak age of information in a communication system where packets, generated according to an independent and identically distributed Bernoulli process, are placed in a single-server queue with first-come first-served discipline and transmitted over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. When a packet is correctly decoded, the sender receives an instantaneous error-free positive acknowledgment, upon which it removes the packet from the buffer. In ...
