Non-simply connected Calabi-Yau threefolds constructed as quotients of Schoen threefolds
Karayayla, Tolga (2017-07-01)
The aim of this paper is to complete the classification of all Calabi-Yau threefolds which are constructed as the quotient of a smooth Schoen threefold X = B-1 x p1 B-2 (fiber product over P-1 of two relatively minimal rational elliptic surfaces B-1 and B-2 with section) under a finite group action acting freely on the Schoen threefold X. The abelian group actions on smooth Schoen threefolds which induce cyclic group actions on the base curve P-1 were studied by Bouchard and Donagi (2008), and all such acti...
Non-Abelian gauge theories of the Yang-Mills type
Abuhatab, Ahmed; Başkal, Sibel; Department of Physics (2003)
In this thesis, starting from the effective Lagrangians of the standard Yang-Mills, higher derivative Yang-Mills and the Chern-Simons- Yang-Mills theories, we have given the corresponding field equations and the symmetric gauge invariant energy- momentum tensors. Lagrangians containing higher derivative terms have been found useful for discussing the long lange effects of the gluon fields. A numeri cal solution is found for a spherically symmetric static gauge potential. On the other hand, Chern-Simons- Yan...
Non-Maxwellian locally-conformal PML absorbers for finite element mesh truncation
Ozgun, Ozlem; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2007-03-01)
We introduce the locally-conformal perfectly matched layer (PML) approach, which is an easy and straightforward PML implementation, to the problem of mesh truncation in the finite element method (FEM). This method is based on a locally-defined complex coordinate transformation which has no explicit dependence on the differential geometric characteristics of the PML-free space interface. As a result, it is possible to handle challenging PML geometries with interfaces having arbitrary curvature, especially th...
