Multicomponent ion exchange on zeolite 4A
Kadaifci, Bijen; Yücel, Hayrettin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2011)
In this study binary and ternary ion exchange on Zeolite NaA using silver and cadmium ions were investigated. Ion exchange were conducted at constant temperature (25oC) and normality (0.1N) in a batch system for both binary and ternary experiments. Zeolite weights were varied between 0.1 and 1 g for binary experiments. Thermodynamic analysis of binary ion exchange between Cd2+-Na+ and Ag+-Na+ were examined and thermodynamic equilibrium constant and Gibbs free energy were calculated. Thermodynamic equilibriu...
Design and construction of a microwave plasma ion source
Çınar, Kamil; Bilikmen, Kadri Sinan; Department of Physics (2011)
This thesis is about the designing and constructing a microwave ion source. The ions are generated in a thermal and dense hydrogen plasma by microwave induction. The plasma is generated by using a microwave source with a frequency of 2.45 GHz and a power of 700 W. The generated microwave is pulsing with a frequency of 50 Hz. The designed and constructed microwave system generates hydrogen plasma in a pyrex plasma chamber. Moreover, an ion extraction unit is designed and constructed in order to extract the i...
Longitudinally pumped Ne-like titanium x-ray laser simulation with a post-processor code coupled to EHYBRID
DEMİR, ALİ; AKMAN, ERHAN; Bilikmen, S.; Demir, P.; Ince, S.; KAÇAR, ELİF; Yurdanur, E.; YALTKAYA, ŞERAFETTİN (2006-08-25)
Longitudinal pumping with a grazing incidence scheme of Ne-like Ti has been modeled by using the EHYBRID and a post-processor code. The atomic data that are required in the simulation are obtained by using the Cowan code. The variation of the Ne-like Ti x-ray laser gain at 32.6 nm is calculated for a fixed delay time with a variation in the incidence angle and a fixed incidence angle with a variation in the delay time. The post processor code has been used to simulate the x-ray resonance lines between 17 an...
H2 Storage at Ambient Temperature using Cu(I)-SSZ-39
İpek Torun, Bahar; Üner, Deniz (2019-06-23)
Hydrogen storage capacities of transition metal cation exchanged zeolites; i.e., Cu(I)-SSZ-39 and Cu(I)-US-Y, were tested at temperatures between 279 K and 304 K and at pressures up to 1 bar. The hydrogen capacity values were higher for Cu(I)-exchanged SSZ-39, which has smaller pore openings and a cage when compared to a large-pore zeolite: Cu(I)-US-Y. Hydrogen capacities at 1 bar per gram of zeolites were found as 83 μmol g-1 (0.02 wt. %) at 278 K and 60 μmol g-1 at 296 K on Cu(I)-SSZ-39 and 35 μmol g-1 (0...
Environmental Applications of Natural Zeolites
Kazemian, Hossein; Gedik, Kadir; İmamoğlu, İpek (2012-01-01)
Environmental pollution particularly at very low concentrations is very difficult to remove from contaminated media. Adsorption by means of relatively inexpensive natural adsorbents such as zeolites can be considered as a cost effective alternative treatment of such contaminated streams. The unique chemical and structural characteristics of natural zeolites made them potential materials for a multitude of environmental applications where materials are needed for effective binding, adsorbing, and filtering. ...
