Investigation of the Rheological Properties of Asphaltite Water Slurries Possible Mechanisms and Their Impacts on Viscosity
Altun, Naci Emre; Hiçyılmaz, C (null; 2008-10-01)
Possible mechanisms that would determine the rheological behavior of AWS’s were examined in terms of apparent viscosity. The role of pH, particle size distribution, deminerilization and their effects on the viscosity of AWS’s were investigated and discussed. An increase in the pH decreased the apparent viscosity of AWS’s due to the increase in the zeta potential of the particles in the slurry. Particle size distribution also impacted the rheological behavior of AWS’s. An increase in fineness enhanced inter-...
Study of the structure of grafted copolymers on the base of butyl rubber and superhigh-molecular polyethylene
Aliguliev, R.M.; Gasanov, Kh.A.; Mehrabov, Amdulla (1992-04-01)
The specific features of structural changes of compositions of butyl rubber with superhighmolecular polyethylene produced by ultrasonic action were studied in the wide range of component ratios. The growth of interphase structures confirmed by IR- and NMR- spectroscopy, radiothermoluminescence, DTA and DSC methods was shown to improve the compatibility of these compositions. The presented data suggest that the formation of graft-copolymers on the base of PE and butyl rubber is highly affected by ultrasonic ...
Investigation of Tsunami Hydrodynamic Parameters in Inundation Zones with Different Structural Layouts
Sozdinler, Ceren Ozer; Yalçıner, Ahmet Cevdet; Zaytsev, Andrey (2015-03-01)
In this study, we analyze the tsunami parameter "hydrodynamic demand" (HD) using advanced numerical modeling. The HD can be defined as the square of the Froude number, which represents the relative value of the drag force (damage level) of tsunami waves in the inundation zone. The other key hydrodynamic parameters investigated in this study include maximum flow depth (inundation depth), maximum current velocity and its direction, and maximum water elevation and discharge flux occurring during tsunami inunda...
STUDY OF CERTAIN PARAMETERS IN LABORATORY-SCALE SMELTING OF SIVRIHISAR LATERITE ORES OF TURKEY
KESKİNKILIÇ, ENDER; Pournaderi, Saeid; Geveci, Ahmet; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (2012-03-15)
Conventional ferronickel smelting has five main steps: Drying, calcination, prereduction, smelting and refining. In the scope of the current work, smelting experiments were conducted using Sivrihisar laterite ores (1.26% Ni) of Turkey. The ore samples previously subjected to drying, calcination and prereduction stages were smelted in alumina crucibles in a laboratoryscale horizontal tube furnace under argon atmosphere. Smelting experiments were performed at 1500, 1550 and 1600 degrees C. The amount of exces...
