Removal of microplastics from wastewater through electrocoagulation-electroflotation and membrane filtration processes
AKARSU, CEYHUN; KUMBUR, HALİL; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan (2021-09-01)
Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are one of the major vectors of microplastics (MPs) pollution for the recipient water bodies. Therefore, the recovery of MPs from WWTPs is extremely important for decreasing their accumulation and impact in aquatic systems. In this present study, the electrocoagulation-electroflotation (EC/En and membrane filtration processes were investigated in removing MPs from wastewaters. The effectiveness of different electrode combinations (Fe-Al and Al-Fe), current density (10-20 ...
Recovery of brackish water from reactive dyeing wastewater by ultrafiltration
Erkanlı, Mert; ZAF, RUKEN DİLARA; Yılmaz, Levent; Çulfaz Emecen, Pınar Zeynep; Yetiş, Ülkü (2017-02-06)
In this study, brackish water recovery from a real reactive dyeing textile effluent for reuse of water and salt was investigated. With the aim of improving the overall retention of species that are partly retained in a single stage, three different two-stage ultrafiltration scenarios were considered: 5 kDa followed by 5 kDa, 5 kDa followed by 2 kDa and 2 kDa followed by 2 kDa. The 2 kDa + 2 kDa scenario reduced the total organic carbon (TOC) from 239 +/- 9 mg/L to 41 +/- 7 mg/L, at 2 bar of transmembrane pr...
