Investigation of the structural properties of silicene nanoribbons by molecular dynamics simulations
İnce, Alper; Erkoç, Şakir; Aydınol, Mehmet Kadri; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2012)
With the emergence of nanotechnology, mankind has obtained the capability to manipulate materials at nanoscale and this led to the invention of a new group of novel materials like carbon nanotubes, graphene and quantum nanodots. Silicene nanoribbons (SiNRs) are one of the newest members of this nanomaterial family which has been synthesized very recently by deposition on silver substrates. A SiNR sheet is made up of a layer of two dimensional honeycomb structure solely composed of silicon atoms. In this the...

A theoretical study of rho(0)-photoproduction on nucleons near threshold
Babacan, H; Babacan, T; Gokalp, A; Yılmaz, Osman (2002-02-01)
We investigate the possibility that the process of p(0)-meson photoproduction on proton, gamma+p --> p+p(0), in the near threshold region E-gamma pp(0))/dt, which has been measured by SAPHIR Collaboration. We find that the suggested model provides a good description of the experimental data with new values of pNN-coupling constants in the region of the time-like p(0)-meson momentum. Our results suggest that such model can be considered as a suitable nonresonant background mechanism for the future discussio...
Investigation of structural and electronic properties of ZnCdTe ternary alloy nanostructures
Kurban, Mustafa; Erkoç, Şakir; Department of Physics (2016)
Nanostructures, including II-VI compound semiconductors, have attracted enormous attention in a wide range of applications of nanotechnology due to the unusual mechanical, electrical and thermal properties under varying size, geometry, temperature and pressure when compared to corresponding bulk materials. However, these properties are not directly measurable by experiments because of the methods or the availability of the experimental tools, so theoretical models and computations play an important role in ...
Comparison of optical measurements for better NI tracking in bacteria
Sungur, Sıla; Gözen, Ayşe Gül; Department of Biology (2015)
Metal pollution is a common problem in industrial areas. Microorganisms, as well as macroorganisms are affected from metal pollution. In order to cope with this problem, microorganisms develop resistance mechanisms. Traditional microbiological techniques alone are not sufficient in resistance studies. Additional data acquisition by using other measurement techniques and devices are also required. However, there are differences in sentitivities of the measurement devices. A given device may work under a set ...
