This study presents a resource constrained project scheduling problem with progress payments in generalized project networks. In this thesis, contrary to the several studies where cash inflows occur at the completion of the activities, cash inflows of the project occur as progress payments at the end of the time periods. To achieve the objective of maximizing net present value (NPV) of cash flows three heuristic rules are employed. These rules have been examined and computational results have been reported.

Hybrid Optimization Method for Large-Scale Multimode Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem
Sönmez, Rifat (2016-11-01)
Despite many research efforts that have focused on the multimode resource-constrained project scheduling problem (MRCPSP), very little success has been achieved in solving the problem for large-scale projects. In this paper a new hybrid optimization method is presented to achieve an advancement in optimal planning and scheduling of large-scale construction projects with multiple duration/resource execution modes and resource constraints. The proposed method consists of a novel heuristic and unique genetic o...
Optimal scope of work for international integrated systems
Ertem, Mustafa Alp; Serpil, Canan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2005)
This study develops a systems integration project scheduling model which identifies the assignment of activity responsibilities that minimizes expected project implementation cost, considering the project risk. Assignment of resources to the individual jobs comprising the project is a persistent problem in project management. Mostly, skilled labor is an essential resource and both the time and the cost incurred to perform a job depend on the resource to which job is assigned. A systems integration project i...
Resource Constrained Multi-project Scheduling: Application in Software Company
Kurt, Pelin Akyil; KEÇECİ, BARIŞ (2019-01-01)
Project scheduling is a common problem of today's companies, which have project type production system. Project scheduling is a mechanism to communicate what tasks need to get done and which organizational resources will be allocated to complete those tasks in what timeframe. In this study, it is aimed to find the shortest completion time of projects and the starting/ending time of each activity as well in a software company, which is running simultaneous projects including multiple activities with predeces...
Project management and use of information technology for project communication management in Turkish electronic sector
Tuncer, Şeniz; Erdil, Erkan; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2004)
In this study, Project Management, especially Project Communication Management applications and use of information technology are scrutinized. The general situation of Turkish electronic sector is investigated. The project management applications and closeness to new technologies of companies that operates in Turkish electronic sector are analyzed. A research model is developed with a designed questionnaire, and the levels of project communication management applications and use of interactive communication...
An integrated scheduling and control model for multi-mode projects
Hazır, Öncü; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2013-01-01)
In today's highly competitive uncertain project environments, it is of crucial importance to develop analytical models and algorithms to schedule and control project activities so that the deviations from the project objectives are minimized. This paper addresses the integrated scheduling and control in multi-mode project environments. We propose an optimization model that models the dynamic behavior of projects and integrates optimal control into a practically relevant project scheduling problem. From the ...
