Synthesis and characterization of conducting copolymers were achieved by using thiophene end-funtionalized TEMPO initiated polystyrene (PS), decanoic acid dithiophen-3yl-me1hyl ester (DTME) and octanoic acid thiophen-3yl-methyl ester (OTME). Redox behavior of polymer and monomers were done by Cyclic Voltammetry (CV). Structural and characterization of samples were carried out by XB., 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Thermal analyses of resultant conducting copolymers were investigated via Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermal Gravimetry Analysis (TGA). The morphologies of the copolymer films were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Conductivities of the films were measured by using four probe technique.

Synthesis and characterization of a bifunctional amido-thiophene monomer and its copolymer with thiophene and electrochemical properties
AK, M; Çırpan, Ali; Yılmaz, Fatih; YAGCI, Y; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2005-05-01)
A bifunctional amido-thiophene namely hexamethylene (bis-3-thiophene acetamide) (HMTA) was synthesized by the reaction of 3-thiophene acetic acid with hexamethylene diamine. Copolymerization in the presence of thiophene was achieved electrochemically in tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate/acetonitrile (TBAFB/AN). Spectroelectro-chemical analysis of the resulting copolymer [P(HMTA-co-Th)] reflected electronic transitions at 505 nm, 740 nm and similar to 1000 nm, revealing pi to pi* transition, polaron and b...
Synthesis and characterization of conducting copolymers of menthyl ester of 3-thiophene acetic acid with pyrrole
Kiralp, S; Alkan, S; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Cianga, I; Yagci, Y (2003-01-01)
A new thiophene derivative containing menthyl group (MM) was synthesized and polymerized via chemical and electrochemical (constant current) methods. Polymers obtained and MM itself were used to synthesize copolymers with pyrrole under conditions of constant potential electrolyses. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses were performed for the characterization of samples.
Immobilization of invertase in conducting copolymers of 3-methylthienyl methacrylate
Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yagci, Y. (Elsevier BV, 2003-4)
Immobilization of invertase in conducting copolymer matrices of 3-methylthienyl methacrylate with pyrrole and thiophene was achieved by constant potential electrolysis using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as the supporting electrolyte. Polythiophene (PTh) was also used in entrapment process for comparison. Kinetic parameters, Michaelis-Menten constant, Km, and the maximum reaction rate, Vmax, were investigated. Operational stability and temperature optimization of the enzyme electrodes were also examined.
Characterization of conducting copolymers of succinic acid bis-(-4-pyrrol-1-yl-phenyl) ester and thiophene via pyrolysis mass spectrometry
Ertas, Merve; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2005-03-01)
In this work, a direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry technique was applied to characterize a conducting copolymer of succinic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yl-phenyl) ester (SM) and thiophene prepared by electrochemical polymerization. Thermal degradation behavior of both components was quite similar to those of the corresponding homopolymers, PSM, and polythiophene PTh. Yet, detection of oligomers and mixed dimers of both monomers in the high temperature pyrolysis mass spectra confirmed the formation of a copolymer. ...
Synthesis and characterization of conducting copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole
Sahmetlioglu, E; Yuruk, H; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Cianga, I; Yagci, Y (2004-12-01)
Graft copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole were synthesized by electrochemical polymerization methods. Poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups (PVATh) was obtained from the reaction between poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and thiophene-3-acetic acid. The syntheses of copolymers Of PVATh and pyrrole were achieved electrochemically by using three different supporting electrolytes, p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluo...
