Defining the critical thinking skills of students in Police Academy, Ankara Turkey
Dil, Kemal; Özcan, Yusuf Ziya; Department of Sociology (2003)
This thesis examined the critical thinking (CT) dispositions, as measured by the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Revised, of freshmen and seniors at Police Academy, in Ankara. Descriptive and comparative results were reported in this study as well. This study aims at defining the relationship between the disposition toward critical thinking and students' descriptive characteristics, class levels, parent attitudes, training situations and views about professional activities in policing mai...
Problems of nepotism and favouritism in the police organization in Turkey
Mutlu, K (2000-01-01)
Policing in a democratic, free society is one of the essential arguments in the literature. However, the data collected from the police chiefs (N = 306) show that nepotism and favouritism enforced mostly by politicians, are the main problems in police organization in Turkey. That means that legality is ignored by the governing political parties at the expense of democratization of policing. Consequently, law enforcement and maintaining social order within the principles of democracy are Problematic in Turke...
Optimum tank size for a rainwater harvesting system: Case study for Northern Cyprus
Ruso, Mustafa; Akintug, Bertug; Kentel Erdoğan, Elçin (2019-01-01)
The available freshwater is limited on earth. On the other hand, available water resources on earth have been depleting and being polluted due to climate change and population growth. In order to reduce the risk of water scarcity and water resources contamination, Integrated water resources management (IWRM) is required. IWRM is a concept to manage water resources that aims to balance economic efficiency, social equity, and environmental sustainability. When rainwater harvesting systems (RWHS), one of the t...
A note on critical values of calibrations
Ünal, İbrahim (2013-02-01)
In this paper, we prove that phi-critical submanifolds of a calibrated manifold X with calibration phi is an element of Omega(k) (X) are locally volume minimizing i.e. stably minimal if the positive (or negative) critical value is a local maximum (or minimum).
LINEAR CONTACT ALGORITHM FOR RIGID-PLASTIC FINITE-ELEMENT SIMULATION
TEKKAYA, AE; SEN, A (1992-12-01)
The rigid-plastic finite element analysis of metal forming processes is known to be much more efficient and stable than the elastic-plastic one. This efficiency results from the absence of kinematical nonlinearities in the formulation. Contact algorithms used in rigid-plastic models must agree with this fact, otherwise the efficiency can be damaged seriously.
