In this thesis Finsler geometry is extensively reviewed. The geometrization of fields by a Finslerian approach is considered. Also unification of electrodynamics and gravitation with suitable Finslerian metrics is examined.

Sliding mode control design with time varying sliding surfaces for a class of nonlinear systems
SALAMCİ, METİN UYMAZ; Tombul, G. Serdar (2006-10-06)
This paper presents sliding mode control (SMC) design for a class of nonlinear systems in which the sliding surface is designed to be linear with time varying slope(s). The sliding surface design is based on the frozen-time approach. The nonlinear system is frozen at each operation step resulting in linear time invariant (LTI) model and the sliding surface is designed for the LTI model. The surface slope is updated at each frozen step which gives, in general, a moving sliding surface. The control term, on t...
Hilbert functions of gorenstein monomial curves
Topaloğlu Mete, Pınar; Arslan, Sefa Feza; Department of Mathematics (2005)
The aim of this thesis is to study the Hilbert function of a one-dimensional Gorenstein local ring of embedding dimension four in the case of monomial curves. We show that the Hilbert function is non-decreasing for some families of Gorenstein monomial curves in affine 4-space. In order to prove this result, under some arithmetic assumptions on generators of the defining ideal, we determine the minimal generators of their tangent cones by using the standard basis and check the Cohen-Macaulayness of them. ON GENERALIZED LOCAL SYMMETRIES OF THE SO(2,1) INVARIANT NONLINEAR SIGMA-MODEL
BASKAL, S; ERIS, A; SATIR, A (1994-12-19)
The symmetries and associated conservation laws of the SO(2,1) invariant non-linear sigma model equations in 1+1 dimensions are investigated. An infinite family of generalized local symmetries is presented and the uniqueness of these solutions is discussed.
Geometric invariant theory and Einstein-Weyl geometry
Kalafat, Mustafa (Elsevier BV, 2011-01-01)
In this article, we give a survey of geometric invariant theory for Toric Varieties, and present an application to the Einstein-Weyl geometry. We compute the image of the Minitwistor space of the Honda metrics as a categorical quotient according to the most efficient linearization. The result is the complex weighted projective space CP(1,1,2). We also find and classify all possible quotients. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier GmbH.
Inverse Sturm-Liouville problems with pseudospectral methods
Altundag, H.; Boeckmann, C.; Taşeli, Hasan (2015-07-03)
In this paper a technique to obtain a first approximation for singular inverse Sturm-Liouville problems with a symmetrical potential is introduced. The singularity, as a result of unbounded domain (-infinity, infinity), is treated by considering numerically the asymptotic limit of the associated problem on a finite interval (-L, L). In spite of this treatment, the problem has still an ill-conditioned structure unlike the classical regular ones and needs regularization techniques. Direct computation of eigen...
