With increasing awareness of gains and importance of the strategic use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the implementation rate of ICTs in construction sector is increasing. However, these technologies have not been covered by legal and contractual practices. The industry needs to implement application frameworks and legal re-structuring of the existing related laws and regulations to use ICT in a legal and contractually valid environment. In this thesis, an EU funded project, eLEGAL; which defines a framework for legal conditions and contracts regarding the use of ICT in construction industry, is selected as a model project to address legal and contractual issues regarding ICT use in Turkish construction industry. Moreover, the applicability of this project̕s results are discussed by using real cases and defining the barriers, opportunities, methods and tools to use ICT legally admissible in Turkish construction industry.

Mapping Uncertainty for Risk and Opportunity Assessment in Projects
Qazi, Abroon; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (Informa UK Limited, 2019-01-01)
Risk management is deemed as a critical process toward achieving the objectives of any project. A number of tools and techniques have been developed to help project managers reduce the risk involved in complex projects as risk is generally perceived as a negative event. However, uncertainty, which may lead to risk events may well result in opportunities. With the main aim of managing both risk and opportunity within an interdependent setting of interacting project uncertainties, we present a new thinking, c...
Operation assignment and capacity allocation problem in automated manufacturing systems
Bilgin, Selin; Azizoğlu, Meral (Elsevier BV, 2009-03-01)
We address an operation assignment and capacity allocation problem that arises in semiconductor industries and flexible manufacturing systems. We assume the automated machines have scarce time and tool magazine capacities and the tools are available in limited quantities. The aim is to select a subset of operations with maximum total weight. We show that the problem is NP-hard in the strong sense, develop two heuristics and a Tabu Search procedure. The results of our computational tests have revealed that o...
Modelling Energy Consumption of the Republic of Serbia using Linear Regression and Artificial Neural Network Technique
Protic, Milan; Fathurrahman, Fahman; Raos, Miomir (Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Slavonski Brod, 2019-02-01)
The objectives of the study are twofold. First, we aim to examine the most influential socio-economic indicators to explain energy consumption in Republic of Serbia. The second objective is to develop models that are able to predict the future energy consumption in the Republic of Serbia. This could be the first important step towards proper energy management in the country. Several potential socio-economic indicators are selected to be the independent variables. Regression analysis is conducted to select t...
SIMULATION CONCEPTS FOR INFORMATION-SYSTEM
MOURANT, RR; Tarı, Zehra Sibel (Elsevier BV, 1993-09-01)
Recent Improvements in document image systems and their low-cost implementation on networks of microcomputers is leading to the reengineering of many information systems. We describe how document image systems can be applied to information systems. In order to compare the performance of a conventional information system with one implemented with document imaging processing capability we conducted a discrete event simulation. We modeled the conventional information system for processing graduate student ...
