Data Distribution Service (DDS) specification defines an API for Data-Centric Publish-Subscribe (DCPS) model to achieve efficient data distribution in distributed computing environments. Lack of definition of interoperability architecture in DDS specification obstructs data distribution between different and heterogeneous DDS implementations. In this thesis, DDS is implemented as a CORBA service to achieve interoperability and a QoS policy is proposed for faster data distribution with CORBA features.

Performance analysis of a power aware routing protocol for ad hoc networks
Yazıcı, Mehmet Akif; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
In this thesis, performance of the Contribution Reward Routing Protocol with Shapley Value (CAP-SV), a power-aware routing protocol for ad hoc networking is analyzed. Literature study on ad hoc network routing and ower-awareness is given. The overhead induced by the extra packets of the redirection mechanism of CAP-SV is formulized and the factors affecting this overhead are discussed. Then, the power consumption of CAP-SV is analytically analized using a linear power consumption model. It is shown that CAP...
An asynchronous system design and implementation of an FPGA
Ayyıldız, Nizam; Güran, Hasan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are widely used in prototyping digital circuits. However commercial FPGAs are not very suitable for asynchronous design. Both the architecture of the FPGAs and the synthesis tools are mostly tailored to synchronous design. Therefore potential advantages of the asynchronous circuits could not be observed when they are implemented on commercial FPGAs. This is shown by designing an asynchronous arithmetic logic unit (ALU), implemented in the style of micropipelines, on th...
Data integration over horizontally partitioned databases in service-oriented data grids
Sunercan, Hatice Kevser Sönmez; Çiçekli, Fehime Nihan; Alpdemir, Mahmut Nedim; Department of Computer Engineering (2010)
Information integration over distributed and heterogeneous resources has been challenging in many terms: coping with various kinds of heterogeneity including data model, platform, access interfaces; coping with various forms of data distribution and maintenance policies, scalability, performance, security and trust, reliability and resilience, legal issues etc. It is obvious that each of these dimensions deserves a separate thread of research efforts. One particular challenge among the ones listed above tha...
DDS based MIL-STD-1553B data bus interface simulation
Deniz, Ertan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Durak, Umut; Department of Computer Engineering (2012)
This thesis describes distributed simulation of MIL-STD-1553B Serial Data Bus interface and protocol based on the Data Distribution Service (DDS) middleware standard. The data bus connects avionics system components and transports information among them in an aircraft. It is important for system designers to be able to evaluate and verify their component interfaces at the design phase. The 1553 serial data bus requires specialized hardware and wiring to operate, thus it is expensive and complex to verify co...
Parallel Scalable PDE Constrained Optimization Antenna Identification in Hyperthermia Cancer Treatment Planning
SCHENK, Olaf; Manguoğlu, Murat; CHRİSTEN, Matthias; SATHE, Madan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2009-01-01)
We present a PDE-constrained optimization algorithm which is designed for parallel scalability on distributed-memory architectures with thousands of cores. The method is based on a line-search interior-point algorithm for large-scale continuous optimization, it is matrix-free in that it does not require the factorization of derivative matrices. Instead, it uses a new parallel and robust iterative linear solver on distributed-memory architectures. We will show almost linear parallel scalability results for t...
