Interactive classication is an attractive alternative and complementary for automatic classication of satellite image content, since the subject is visual and there are not yet powerful computational features corresponding to the sought visual features. In this study, we improve our previous attempt by building a more stable software system with better capabilities for interactive classication of the content of satellite images. The system allows user to indicate a few number of image regions that contain a specic geographical object, for example, a bridge, and to retrieve similar objects on the same satellite images. Retrieval process is iterative in the sense that user guides the classication procedure by interaction and visual observation of the results. The classication procedure is based on one-class classication.

Fuzzy spatial data cube construction and its use in association rule mining
Işık, Narin; Yazıcı, Adnan; Department of Computer Engineering (2005)
The popularity of spatial databases increases since the amount of the spatial data that need to be handled has increased by the use of digital maps, images from satellites, video cameras, medical equipment, sensor networks, etc. Spatial data are difficult to examine and extract interesting knowledge; hence, applications that assist decision-making about spatial data like weather forecasting, traffic supervision, mobile communication, etc. have been introduced. In this thesis, more natural and precise knowle...
Active stereo vision : depth perception for navigation, environmental map formation and object recognition
Ulusoy, İlkay; Halıcı, Uğur; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2003)
In very few mobile robotic applications stereo vision based navigation and mapping is used because dealing with stereo images is very hard and very time consuming. Despite all the problems, stereo vision still becomes one of the most important resources of knowing the world for a mobile robot because imaging provides much more information than most other sensors. Real robotic applications are very complicated because besides the problems of finding how the robot should behave to complete the task at hand, t...
Extending Correlation Filter-Based Visual Tracking by Tree-Structured Ensemble and Spatial Windowing
Gundogdu, Erhan; Özkan, Huseyin; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2017-11-01)
Correlation filters have been successfully used in visual tracking due to their modeling power and computational efficiency. However, the state-of-the-art correlation filter-based (CFB) tracking algorithms tend to quickly discard the previous poses of the target, since they consider only a single filter in their models. On the contrary, our approach is to register multiple CFB trackers for previous poses and exploit the registered knowledge when an appearance change occurs. To this end, we propose a novel t...
Improving search result clustering by integrating semantic information from Wikipedia
Çallı, Çağatay; Üçoluk, Göktürk; Şehitoğlu, Onur Tolga; Department of Computer Engineering (2010)
Suffix Tree Clustering (STC) is a search result clustering (SRC) algorithm focused on generating overlapping clusters with meaningful labels in linear time. It showed the feasibility of SRC but in time, subsequent studies introduced description-first algorithms that generate better labels and achieve higher precision. Still, STC remained as the fastest SRC algorithm and there appeared studies concerned with different problems of STC. In this thesis, semantic relations between cluster labels and documents ar...
Investigation of the effects of structural characteristics of object-oriented software on fault-proneness
Gölcük, Halit; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
This study investigates the effects of structural characteristics of object-oriented software, which are observable at the model level of the software developed by means of Unified Modeling Language (UML), on software quality, assessing quality in terms of fault-proneness. In the scope of this thesis study, real-time embedded software components developed by Aselsan, a leading defense industry company in Turkey, were analyzed. The correlation between software metrics measured from the UML models of the soft...
