This thesis analysis the common foreign policy formulation and implementation processes in the European Union. It argues that the European Foreign Policy can be analysis in a similar model to those used in Foreign Policy Analysis. It proposes a model to analyse the common foreign policy formulation and implementation in the EU and tests it on the EU's relations with Central and Eastern European Countries, the Western Balkans, the Mediterranean region and Turkey, as case studies. The case studies, firstly, present a historical evaluation of EU's relations with the region or country concerned. They, secondly, identify several issues of concern in the relationships and analyse which factors contributed to the formulation of the EU position on the issue. Lastly, each case study presents an analysis of how the proposed model explains the EU's relations with the region or country concerned. The dissertation also presents a comparative analysis of the identified factors of each case study. It concludes that the proposed model is successful in analysing common foreign policy formulation and implementation in the EU.
