Assessment of energetic heterogeneity of coals for gas adsorption and its effect on mixture predictions for coalbed methane studies
Karacan, CO; Okandan, E (2000-12-01)
This study explains the single-component and binary mixture adsorption studies on two different coals from the Zonguldak Basin (Northwestern Turkey). Assessment of energetic heterogeneity of coal surface and its effect on the equilibrium binary gas adsorption are discussed. Single component adsorption tests were performed using methane and carbon dioxide at 30 degreesC. Binary mixtures prepared with 10, 15 and 20% carbon dioxide were also tested at the same temperature. Various single-component adsorption i...
Modeling of enhanced coalbed methane recovery in a coalbed at Zonguldak Basin
Sınayuç, Çağlar (2006-12-01)
A part of the Bartin-Amasra basin is found convenient for enhanced coalbed methane recovery. The lithologic information taken from the Zonguldak TKJ were studied and the depths the coal seams and the locations of the wells were visualized to perform a reliable correlation between seams existed in the area. According to the correlations, 63 continuous coal layers were found. The injection wells were located to the north and south parts of the reservoir where the depths are higher, so that injected CO2 can pu...
Synthesis of macromolecular catalyst systems and applications
Oğuzkaya, Funda; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2011)
SYNTHESIS OF MACROMOLECULAR CATALYST SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS Oğuzkaya, Funda PhD., Department of Chemistry Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Cihangir Tanyeli September 2011, 144 pages The thesis mainly proposed to design macromolecular catalyst systems. Such catalysts should follow the way of "Green Chemistry" with including no metallic ions and have also the ability of reusability. Hence, nitroxide chemistry was chosen as the key point. Catalysts were synthesized with surely including TEMPO as the functional part as ...
Exhast gas cleaning by three way catalytic converters
Karakoç Yıldız, Zuhal; Önal, Işık; Department of Chemical Engineering (2013)
In this study, powder catalysts slurries are washcoated on cordierite monoliths. CeO2-ZrO2 (CZO) and CeO2-ZrO2-Al2O3 (CZAO) mixed oxides are synthesized by co-precipitation. Pd and Rh metals are used as a nobel metals in these supports. Metal loaded CZO is mixed with gamma phase alumina. Powder catalysts are characterized by XRD, BET, ICP-MS and the monolithic catalysts are imaged by SEM. Catalytic activities of monolithic catalysts are tested in dynamic test system which is computerized and basically compo...
