In this study, powder catalysts slurries are washcoated on cordierite monoliths. CeO2-ZrO2 (CZO) and CeO2-ZrO2-Al2O3 (CZAO) mixed oxides are synthesized by co-precipitation. Pd and Rh metals are used as a nobel metals in these supports. Metal loaded CZO is mixed with gamma phase alumina. Powder catalysts are characterized by XRD, BET, ICP-MS and the monolithic catalysts are imaged by SEM. Catalytic activities of monolithic catalysts are tested in dynamic test system which is computerized and basically composed of gas flow control and conditioning units, split furnace, quartz reactor, mass spectrometer and CO analyzer. Gas mixture containing CO, C3H6, C3H8, NO, H2, O2, CO2, SO2, H2O and N2 is used to simulate the exhaust gas automotive. O2 is oscillated at 1 Hz frequency around the stoichiometric condition. Monolithic catalyst in the reactor is heated between 150 ºC and 600 ºC at a rate of 5 ºC/min and then cooled. Gas composition data from mass spectrometer & CO analyzer and temperature data from thermocouple at the monolith entrance, are converted to conversion versus temperature graphs. Catalyst containing co-impregnated support material with metals, showed the lowest loss of catalytic performance after exposure to SO2 during activity tests. As a result, this catalyst has more resistant than Tofas commercial monolithic catalyst.

Pyrolysis of Polyethylene over Aluminum-Incorporated MCM-41 Catalyst
Aydemir, Bugce; Sezgi, Naime Aslı (2016-01-01)
Aluminum-containing MCM-41 catalysts were synthesized in this study by impregnation of aluminum into hydrothermally synthesized MCM-41. Aluminum was loaded into the porous framework of silica with different Al/Si ratios, using aluminum isopropoxide as the aluminum source. These catalysts exhibited Type IV adsorption-desorption isotherms and had a pore diameter of 2.4nm. Aluminum species were coordinated tetra- and octahedrally in the structure of catalysts. Diffuse Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared Spe...
Experimental research on in-tube condensation under steady-state and transient conditions
Tanrikut, A; Yesin, O (2005-01-01)
In this research study, in-tube condensation in the presence of air was investigated experimentally at a heat exchanger of countercurrent type for different operating conditions. The test matrix for the steady-state condition covers the range of pressures P = 1.8 to 5.5 bars, vapor Reynolds numbers Re, = 45 000 to 94 000, and inlet air mass fraction values Xi = 0 to 52%. The effect of air manifests itself by a reduction in the local heat flux and the local heat transfer coefficient. The local heat transfer ...
Investigation of bismuth doped bioglass/graphene oxide nanocomposites for bone tissue engineering
Pazarçeviren, Ahmet Engin; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Keskin, Dilek; Evis, Zafer (2018-03-01)
In this study, bismuth doped 45S5 nanobioactive bioglass (nBG) and graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites were developed and characterized in terms of microstructural, mechanical, bioactivity and biological properties. Bismuth (Bi) - doped nBG was synthesized by sol-gel method and sintered at 600 degrees C for 2 h. Nanosized GO was homogeneously mixed with Bi doped bioglass at various ratios to prepare nanocomposites. Addition of Bi increased the density of nBG samples while a considerable decrease in density w...
Coating of iron oxide pellets for direct reduction
Basdag, A; Arol, Ali İhsan (2002-06-01)
Depending upon their chemical composition and, to a lesser extent, on their physical properties, iron oxide pellets exhibit varying degrees of sticking tendency during direct reduction at elevated temperatures. For an efficient shaft furnace operation in direct reduction (DR), it is imperative to prevent pellets from sticking to each other and, hence, forming clusters. Coating of pellets with a suitable inorganic material has increasingly been gaining recognition amongst the pellet producers and DR plant op...
Efficiency enhancement of methanol/ethanol oxidation reactions on Pt nanoparticles prepared using a new surfactant, 1,1-dimethyl heptanethiol
Sen, Fatih; Sen, Selda; Gökağaç Arslan, Gülsün (2011-01-01)
In this study, carbon-supported platinum nanoparticle catalysts were prepared using PtCl(4) and H(2)PtCl(6) as starting materials and 1-heptanethiol, 1,1-dimethyl heptanethiol, 1-hexadecanethiol and 1-octadecanethiol as surfactants. These nanoparticles can be used as catalysts for methanol and ethanol oxidation reactions in methanol and ethanol fuel cells. 1,1-Dimethyl heptanethiol was used for the first time in this type of synthesis; other surfactants were used to synthesize nanoparticles for comparison o...
