In this thesis a scanner and interlacer subsystem for a thermal imaging system designed and developed as a prototype at the laboratories of Aselsan .The unit is given the game ASIR and it is the first thermal camera system designed and developed in Turkey. In the development of the ASIR , an available 60 Hz field rate scanner and interlacer system is used as a reference benchmark system. ASIR operates at a 50 Hz and have improved frame resolution and detector dwell time compared to the bench mark system. Scanner and interlacer subsystem in ASIR is designed with the perspective of a mechatronic system , realized as the composition of three subsystems.Scanner and interlacer mirrors, motor and resolver forms the mechanical subsystem ; filters, motor driving system , position reference circuits are realized electronically ; control and self testing of operational validity functions are embedded by software.

Experimental analysis of curved laminated beam
Uzhan, Tevfik; Aşık, Mehmet Zülfü; Department of Engineering Sciences (2010)
In this thesis, experimental studies are carried out on curved laminated glass beams to form a database for the scientists who may like to test their mathematical models. Beams which are only free to rotate and constrained in radial direction at both ends are tested to make the data available for further calculations. Test setup is prepared to minimize error that could occur due to test setup and data readings. Material testing machine and 4 channel data collecting machine are used to measure the signals at...
Design and analysis of filament wound composite tubes
Balya, Bora; Parnas, Kemal Levend; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2004)
This thesis is for the investigation of the design and analysis processes of filament wound composite tubes under combined loading. The problem is studied by using a computational tool based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). Filament wound tubes are modeled as multi layered orthotropic tubes. Several analyses are performed on layered orthotropic tubes by using FEM. Results of the FEM are examined in order to investigate characteristics of filament wound tubes under different combined loading conditions. W...
Assessment of a frequency-domain linearised Euler solver for turbofan aft radiation predictions and comparison with measurements
Özyörük, Yusuf (2010-03-31)
This paper presents a frequency-domain computational aeroacoustics tool for predicting aft noise radiation through turbofan ducts and jets and its application to two realistic engine exhaust configurations which have been experimentally tested. The tool is based on the discretised axisymmetric form of the linearised Euler equations in conjunction with perfectly matched layer equations at the inlet and far-field boundaries using high-order finite differences. The resultant linear system of equations is inver...
Computer simulation of grain boundary grooving by anisotropic surface drift diffusion due to capillary, electromigration and elastostatic forces
Akyıldız, Öncü; Oğurtanı, Tarık Ö.; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2010)
The aim of this study is to develop a theoretical basis and to perform computational experiments for understanding the grain boundary (GB) grooving in polycrystalline thin film metallic conductors (interconnects) by anisotropic surface diffusion due to capillary, electromigration and elastostatic forces. To this end, irreversible thermo–kinetics of surfaces and interfaces with triple junction singularities is elaborated, and the resulting well-posed moving boundary value problem is solved using the front–tr...
Development of sled range test facility for store separation model
Özyüksel, Alaettin Arda; Balkan, Raif Tuna; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2007)
The aim of this thesis is to develop a test facility in order to validate the safe separation of a store model from the aircraft model with the analysis of the acquired data. Different alternatives are considered in the conceptual design and a facility is selected which contains the rail constructed 5 meters above the ground. 300 meter test range is used to accelerate the aircraft model, attached to the carriage with solid rocket engines. The concept is to accelerate the carriage within the first 100 meters...
