This study aims to examine the relation between mock-documentary and factual discourse of documentary. By factual discourse it is meant to documentary’s claim of representing reality. Within this respect, documentary has its own particular codes and conventions to construct its factual discourse. Mock-documentary, simulates these codes and conventions to create a fictional world. In this study, mock-documentary and its relationship with the most popular modes of documentary is examined. Within this study the earliest examples of mock-documentary and recent examples of the form are compared, and it is stated that with the recent examples of the form the critical approach of mock-documentary has been reduced.

Socio-Spatial Politics of Otherness: The Desire to Construct a Counterhegemony
Yoltay, Ece (2019-03-01)
This study is based on an empirical research to understand the production of nongovernmental spatial practices and representations with a counterformation to an authority, as well as an ontological discussion on the relations between public space and power. In this respect, the study is constructed on an alternative spatial reading of counterspaces (LGBTI-friendly spaces, political spaces, and resistance spaces) in the capital of Turkey, Ankara, benefiting from Henri Lefebvre’s theory on the production of s...
Elementary Students’ Scientific Epistemological Beliefs in Relation to Socio-Economic Status and Gender
Özkal, Kudret; Öztekin, Ceren; Sungur, Semra; Çakıroğlu, Jale; Çakıroğlu, Erdinç (2010-01-01)
This study investigated students' scientific epistemological beliefs in relation to socio-economic status (SES) and gender. Data were obtained from 1,152 eight grade Turkish elementary school students using Scientific Epistemological Beliefs instrument. Canonical correlation analysis indicated that students with a working mother and educated parents as well as greater number of books at home together with a separate study room are more likely to have tentative views and less likely to have fixed views about...
Visual perspective in causal attribution, empathy and attitude change
Onder, OM; Öner Özkan, Bengi (SAGE Publications, 2003-12-01)
The aim of the present study was to test the effect of visual perspective on the actor-observer bias. For this aim, we examined the effects of different visual perspectives on individuals' external and internal attributions. In addition to this, we examined the presence or absence of an attitude change toward the death penalty due to participants' visual perspective. One week before the experiment, we measured the participants' attitudes toward the death penalty. Then, during the experiment, films produced ...
Active Flutter Control of a Smart Fin
Fatih Mutlu, Karadal; Volkan, Nalbantoğlu; Şahin, Melin; Güçlü, Seber; Ömer Faruk, Kırcalı; Yaman, Yavuz (null; 2008-10-06)
This study presents the theoretical analysis of an active flutter suppression methodology applied on a smart fin. The smart fin consisted of a cantilever aluminum plate-like structure with surface bonded piezoelectric (PZT, Lead- Zirconate-Titanate) patches. The robust controllers were designed via H∞ synthesis by considering both SISO (Single-Input, Single-Output) and MIMO Multi-Input, Multi-Output) aeroelastic system models. The developed controllers performed well around the flutter point and also stabil...
Indirect Relationship between Egoistic Relative Deprivation and Subjective Well-Being
ÖZDEMİR, FATİH; Tekes, Burcu; Öner Özkan, Bengi (2019-01-01)
The present study investigates the possible variables that explain subjective well-being based on Relative Deprivation Theory. In this regard, the first purpose of the study is to focus on the qualitative characteristic of the desired outcome and examine whether the types of material and emotional egoistic relative deprivation exhibit a differentiated relationship with subjective well-being. The second purpose is to test the possible mediating role of perceived intrinsic strength and perceived extrinsic str...
