A wideband electromagnetic micro power generator for wireless microsystems
Sari, Ibrahim; Balkan, Tuna; Külah, Haluk (2007-06-14)
This paper presents a wideband electromagnetic (EM) vibration-to-electrical power generator which can efficiently scavenge energy and generate steady power over a predetermined frequency range. Power is generated by means of electromagnetic induction using a magnet and coils on top of resonating cantilever beams. The reported generator covers a wide band of external vibration frequency by implementing a number of serially connected cantilevers in different lengths. The device generates 0.5 mu W continuous p...
A dual modality system for high resolution-true conductivity imaging
Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat; İder, Yusuf Ziya (2001-06-01)
In this study, a dual modality imaging system which utilises the magnetic flux density measurements, acquired using Magnetic Resonance Current Density Imaging (MRCDI) techniques, and the surface potential measurements, obtained from conventional Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) techniques, to reconstruct high resolution absolute conductivity images. An iterative algorithm is developed to minimise the difference between the current densities calculated based on the potential and the magnetic field measu...

A CMOS Based Current-to-Frequency Converter for Current Output Analog Accelerometers
Nuzumlali, Omer Lutfi; Eren, Murat; Külah, Haluk (2013-04-25)
This paper presents a novel design of a high resolution CMOS based current to frequency converter (CFC), also known as integrating analog to digital converter (IADC), especially for current output navigation grade accelerometers. Different from the traditional design, positive and negative input currents are separated from each other to eliminate the error due to both comparator offset voltages and mismatch in the value of integrating capacitor. Also, the output current of the accelerometer is directly inte...
A Fully Integrated Power Management Circuit for Electromagnetic Energy Harvesting Applications
Gharehbaghi, Kaveh; Ulusan, Hasan; Zorlu, Ozge; Muhtaroglu, Ali; Külah, Haluk (2012-12-05)
In this paper a 90 nm power management circuit for vibration based electromagnetic energy harvesters is introduced to generate 1 V from the rectified DC voltage. A mode selector block is designed to detect the output DC voltage level of the rectifier and adjust the mode of the driver block. In order to set the output to the desired level, a regulation system with negative feedback topology is utilized. The circuit is able to operate with input voltages as low as 0.25 V. The simulation results also show that...
