The Design and production of interference edge filters with plasma ion assisted deposition technique for a space camera

Barutçu, Burcu
Interference filters are multilayer thin film devices. They use interference effects between the incident and reflected radiation waves at each layer interface to select wavelengths. The production of interference filters depend on the precise deposition of thin material layers on substrates which have suitable optical properties. In this thesis, the main target is to design and produce two optical filters (short-pass filter and long-pass filter) for the CCDs that will be used in the electronics of a space camera. By means of these filters, it is possible to take image in different bands (RGB and NIR) by identical two CCDs. The filters will be fabricated by plasma ion-assisted deposition technique.

The effect of microporous vanadosilicate AM-6 thin films as photocatalysts for the degradation of methylene blue
Kuzyaka, Duygu; Galioglu, Sezin; ALTIN, İLKNUR; Sokmen, Munevver; Akata Kurç, Burcu (2018-11-01)
In the current study, a new photocatalyst in thin film form exhibiting photocatalytic activity under visible light range was introduced. For that purpose, microporous vanadosilicate (AM-6, (Na,K)(2)VSi5O13) and silver nanoparticle (Ag-0) incorporated vanadosilicate AM-6 thin films were investigated as photocatalysts for the photocatalytic decomposition of methylene blue (MB). To create different oxidation states of vanadium cation present in the center dot center dot center dot V-o-V-o-V center dot center d...
The effect of disjoining pressure on the shape of condensing films in a fin-groove corner
Akdag, Osman; Akkus, Yigit; Dursunkaya, Zafer (2019-08-01)
Thin film condensation is commonly present in numerous natural and artificial processes. Phase-change driven passive heat spreaders such as heat pipes, which are widely used in electronics cooling, employ a continuous condensation process at the condenser region. When the wick structure of a heat pipe is composed of grooves, the top surfaces of the walls (fins) located between consecutive grooves function as the major source of condensation and the condensate flows along the fin top into the grooves. Modeli...
Development of indium tin oxide (ITO) nanoparticle incorporated transparent conductive oxide thin films
Yavaş, Hakan; Durucan, Caner; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2012)
Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films have been used as transparent electrodes in many technological applications such as display panels, solar cells, touch screens and electrochromic devices. Commercial grade ITO thin films are usually deposited by sputtering. Solution-based coating methods, such as sol-gel however, can be simple and economic alternative method for obtaining oxide films and also ITO. In this thesis, “ITO sols” and “ITO nanoparticle-incorporated hybrid ITO coating sols” were prepared using indi...
Modeling of thin films and cover plates bonded to graded substrates
GÜLER, MEHMET ALİ; Erdogan, Fazil; Dağ, Serkan (2006-10-18)
In this study the contact problems for thin films and cover plates will be considered. In these problems the loading consists of any one or combination of stresses caused by uniform temperature changes and temperature excursions, far field mechanical loading, and residual stresses resulting from film processing or welding. The primary interest in this study is in examining stress concentrations or singularities near the film ends for the purpose of addressing the question of crack initiation and propagation...
Numerical and experimental investigation on laser damage threshold of highly reflective multilayer thin films
Ocak, Mustafa; Sert, Cüneyt; Okutucu Özyurt, Hanife Tuba; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2016)
The laser induced temperature distributions on the optical thin films are investigated in this study. Effects of optical design modifications on thermal performance of highly reflective (HR) multilayer thin films are analyzed. Firstly, a conventional 19 layer HR coating is selected as a reference and the laser induced temperature distribution is evaluated on it. Then, alternative HR designs are developed by employing non-quarter wave layers, over coat (OC) layers and two high index materials in the coating ...
