The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of teaching linear equations with Dynamic Mathematics Software (GeoGebra) on seventh grade students’ achievement compared to the regular instruction. Randomized posttest-only control group design was utilized in the study. 60 seventh grade students (32 girls and 28 boys) of a public school in Yenimahalle district in Ankara participated in the study. The study was conducted in 2011-2012 fall semester, lasting 9 class hours in three weeks. The data was collected by three Mathematics Achievement Tests: Cartesian coordinate system achievement test (MAT1), linear relation achievement test (MAT2) and graph of linear equation achievement test (MAT3). The quantitative analysis was conducted by using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results revealed that teaching Cartesian coordinate system and linear relation by using Dynamic Mathematics Software had no significant effect on seventh grade students’ achievement compared to the regular instruction. On the other hand, the results also indicated that teaching graph of linear equations by using Dynamic Mathematics Software had a significant effect on seventh grade students’ achievement positively.

Samur, Halime; Akyüz, Didem; Department of Elementary Science and Mathematics Education (2015)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dynamic geometry based computer instruction on eighth grade students’ achievement in geometry, attitudes toward geometry and technology compared to traditional instruction. Moreover, it was aimed to get the students’ ideas about the effects of computer based instruction and to interpret their learning process. The study was quasi-experimental design that includes experimental and control groups. The sample of the study was 36 eighth grade students (...
The effects of computer-assisted instruction on the achievement, attitudes and retention of fourth grade mathematics students in North Cyprus

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Dynamic Geometry Software-Assisted Instruction on 8th grade students’ mathematics achievement in transformation geometry (fractals, rotation, reflection, translation), geometric thinking, and attitudes toward mathematics and technology compared to the Regular Instruction. The Static-Group Pretest-Posttest research design was adopted in this weak experimental research study. The study was conducted during the fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year...
The effect of computer assisted instruction on eight grade students’ permutation-combination-probability achievement and attitudes towards computer assisted instruction

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of computer assisted instructional material prepared in R programme, on eight grade students’ permutation-combination and probability achievement and attitudes towards computer assisted learning. In this study, we have survey data for 74 randomly selected students which consists of 45 highly correlated explanatory variables with different measurement levels to model whether CAI material has been effective or not. For data reduction, we firstly presented p...
An investigation of mathematics achievement of eighth grade students with respect to their learning styles
Kurbal, Serkan Süleyman; Çakıroğlu, Erdinç; Department of Educational Sciences (2011)
This study aimed to investigate the differences in mathematics achievement scores of the eighth grade students with respect to their learning styles. Mathematics achievements of the eighth grade students were determined by the number of correct answers given in the mathematics subtest of Level Determination Examination (abbreviated in Turkish as SBS) which was administered in June 2009. Mathematics achievements of the eighth grade students were also determined by teacher-assigned mathematics grades which we...
