An efficient image retrieval system using Ordered Weighted Aggregation
Arslan, Serdar; Yazıcı, Adnan (2006-12-08)
In this study, an XML based content-based image retrieval system that combines three visual descriptors of MPEG-7(Dominant Color (DC), Color Layout (CL) and Edge Histogram (EH)) is introduced. The system is extended to support high dimensional indexing for efficient search and retrieval from a native XML-based DBMS. To do this, an index structure, called M-Tree, which uses Euclidean distance function for each feature, is used. In addition the Ordered Weighted Aggregation (OWA) operators are adapted for aggr...
An Efficient Numerical Solution Method for Reflectarrays of Varying Element Sizes
Ercil, Erdinc; Alatan, Lale; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (2015-12-01)
A novel method is developed for the efficient solution of reflectarrays of variable size elements. The method relies on using characteristic modes (CM) as macro basis functions and reusing the dominant CM of the resonant element for all elements in the reflectarray. This utilization leads to obtaining a reduced matrix system where the number of unknowns is drastically decreased. As far as the far field is concerned, accurate results are achieved even with a single CM. The accuracy is attained owing to prese...
An Efficient Interference-Aware Constrained Beamforming and Receiver Design for mm-Wave Hybrid Massive MIMO with Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access
Bayraktar, Murat; Güvensen, Gökhan Muzaffer; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-7-13)
This thesis investigates efficient interference-aware beamformer design for mm-wave massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Furthermore, adaptation of code-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to mm-wave massive MIMO is studied. The first part of the thesis concentrates on interference-aware pre-beamformer (analog beamformer) design for joint spatial division and multiplexing (JSDM) which is a user-grouping based two-stage beamforming method. Single-carrier frequency domain equali...
An efficient filtering structure for Lagrange interpolation
Candan, Çağatay (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2007-01-01)
A novel filtering structure with linear complexity is proposed for Lagrange interpolation. The structure is similar to the Farrow structure in principle, but it is more efficient and has the additional feature of being order updatable on-the-fly. The main application for the proposed structure is the implementation of fractional delay filters to mitigate the symbol synchronization errors in digital communications. Some other applications are time-delay estimation, echo cancellation, acoustic modeling, and a...
An Efficient Formula Synthesis Method with Past Signal Temporal Logic
Ergurtuna, Mert; Aydın Göl, Ebru (2019-01-01)
In this work, we propose a novel method to find temporal properties that lead to the unexpected behaviors from labeled dataset. We express these properties in past time Signal Temporal Logic (ptSTL). First, we present a novel approach for finding parameters of a template ptSTL formula, which extends the results on monotonicity based parameter synthesis. The proposed method optimizes a given monotone criteria while bounding an error. Then, we employ the parameter synthesis method in an iterative unguided for...
