Polymers containing selenophene as a π bridge; poly(2-(2-octyldodecyl)-4-(selenophen-2-yl)-7-(5-(thiophen-2-yl)selenophen-2-yl)-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole) (P-SBTTh) and poly(2-(2-octyldodecyl)-4-(5-phenylselenophen-2-yl)-7-(selenophen-2-yl)-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole (P-SBTPh) were synthesized via Stille and Suzuki coupling, respectively. Optical and electrochemical properties were investigated and comparisons with their thiophene analogs were done. Selenophene substitution resulted in low band gap and red shifted absorption, high switching times (less than 1s) with reasonable optical contrast. Although both polymers showed moderate stability during chronoamperometry studies,P-SBTPh showed high stability in NIR region with fast switching times. Switching time of P-SBTPh was 0.2 second that is the fastest switching time compared to all benzotriazole-based polymers.

Syntheses, spectroelectrochemical and electrochemical characterizations of naphthodithiophene containing polymers for solar cell applications
Işık, Ebru; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2016)
Naphthodithiophene is a thiophene fused naphthalene with a rigid and planar structure with extended π-conjugation system. Due its electron rich nature it has been recently employed in donor-acceptor type conducting polymers which are used as active layers in organic solar cells and organic field effect transistors. In this study alkoxy functionalized naphthodithiophene bearing two new random copolymers were designed and synthesized. As acceptor moiety in the polymer backbone electron deficient benzotriazole...

Two random terpolymers bearing alkoxy-benzodithiophene as an electron-rich unit and N-octylthieno[3,4,c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (TPD) as an electron deficient group with thiophene and selenophene pi bridges, were synthesized and characterized. Electrochemical, optical properties of the polymers were analyzed to get an insight on the effect of different p bridges. Photovoltaic performances of the polymers were investigated with a conventional device architecture. PBTS, PBTSe based polymer solar cells (PSCs) exhibi...
Numerical investigation of unsteady natural convection from a heated cylinder in a square enclosure
Bozkaya, Canan (null; 2015-07-06)
A numerical study of two dimensional, unsteady, incompressible natural convection flow and heat transfer is performed in a square enclosure involving a heated circular cylinder. The natural convection is driven by a temperature difference between the cold outer square and hot inner circular cylinders. The temperature of the inner cylinder varies sinusoidally with time about a fixed mean temperature while the outer enclosure is kept at a lower constant temperature. The problem under consideration, which is g...
Electrical Characterization of ZnInSe2/Cu0.5Ag0.5InSe2 Thin-Film Heterojunction
Gullu, H. H.; Parlak, Mehmet (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-05-01)
ZnInSe2/Cu0.5Ag0.5InSe2 diode structures have been fabricated by thermal evaporation of stacked layers on indium tin oxide-coated glass substrates. Temperature-dependent dark current-voltage measurements were carried out to extract the diode parameters and to determine the dominant conduction mechanisms in the forward- and reverse-bias regions. The heterostructure showed three order of magnitude rectifying behavior with a barrier height of 0.72 eV and ideality factor of 2.16 at room temperature. In the high...
