Present study aimed to investigate the relationship among parental acceptance- rejection, intimate partner acceptance-rejection, and early maladaptive schemas in married individuals. In addition, the mediating role of early maladaptive schemas in the relationship between remembered parental acceptance-rejection and perceived intimate partner acceptance rejection was another purpose of the study to examine. In order to meet these aims, 228 married individuals between the ages of 23-75 participated in the study, and answered adult version of Parental Acceptance- Rejection Questionnaire, Intimate Partner Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire, and Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form 3. Relationships among the study variables were examined by using Pearson Correlation analyses. According to the results, remembered childhood rejection from mothers or fathers was related to higher perceived rejection from spouses. Moreover, remembered parental (both maternal and paternal) rejection was also found to be significantly correlated to all schema domains namely disconnection/rejection, impaired autonomy, impaired limits, other directedness, and unrelenting standards. On the other hand, perceived rejection from intimate partner was found to be related with disconnection/rejection, impaired autonomy, and unrelenting standards schema domains. After correlation analyses, mediation analyses through Bootstrapping method were conducted. Results of the mediation analyses reveled that disconnection/rejection schema domain significantly mediated the relationship between remembered parental (both maternal and paternal) acceptance-rejection and perceived intimate partner acceptance- rejection. In the light of earlier studies and theoretical backgrounds, findings of current study were evaluated and discussed.
