Analysis of modeling effort and impact of different levels of detail in building information models
Leite, Fernanda; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı; Akinci, Burcu; Atasoy Özcan, Güzide; Kiziltas, Semiha (2011-08-01)
The main objectives of this paper are to evaluate the modeling effort associated with generating building information modeling (BIM) at different levels of detail (LoD) and the impact of LoD in a project in supporting mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design coordination. Results show an increase in total modeling time ranging from doubling the modeling effort to eleven folding it, when going from one LoD to another. When comparing modeling time per object, rates ranged from 0.2 (decreased modeling ...
Analysis of price-only and revenue sharing contracts in a reverse supply chain
Biazaran, Majid; Bakal, İsmail Serdar; Department of Industrial Engineering (2016)
Original Equipment Manufacturers prefer to fully or partially outsource take-back activities, such as used product acquisition and handling, since dealing with reverse flow of goods is not their core competency. However, outsourcing may cause the supply chain to suffer from local optimization that results from decentralization. In such cases, different forms of contracts are offered to reduce the effects of decentralization. In this study, we consider a two-echelon reverse supply chain where a remanufacture...

Analysis of happiness related qualities of mobile physical activity applications
Işık, Hande; Erbuğ, Çiğdem; Department of Industrial Design (2013)
Due to the increase in the number of people choosing sedentary lifestyle, there are efforts to encourage people to be physically active. In that regard, persuasive technology is found to be a promising tool for changing and maintaining physical activity behavior. Owing to advantages such as ubiquity and connectivity, mobile phones are considered to be beneficial for establishing a platform for persuasive technology. Despite the growing number of interventions realized through the creation of persuasive mobi...
