n electrical resistance method, which has the potential to measure the extent of soft material fouling such as milk fouling on the surface of process equipment in situ and in real time, is described. An experimental fouling unit with the appropriate attachments has been devised and used to monitor the fouling build-up using the electrical resistance method. Reconstituted skim milks with solid contents of 10-30 wt.% were used to produce milk foulings, and these milk foulings were cleaned using a cleaning solution with 0.5 wt.% NaOH. Using the fouling unit, it was possible to measure the thermal resistance (essentially measuring heat flux) and electrical resistance simultaneously. As a result, the relationship between the electrical resistance and the thermal resistance during both fouling build-ups and cleaning processes was established. It has been shown that this technique is effective for measuring the extent of fouling, and it has the potential to be modified further so that it can be adopted in real process industries.

Ternary nanocomposites of low density, high density and linear low density polyethylenes with the compatibilizers E-MA-GMA and E-BA-MAh
Işık Coşkunses, Fatma; Yılmazer, Ülkü; Department of Chemical Engineering (2011)
The effects of polyethylene, (PE), type, compatibilizer type and organoclay type on the morphology, rheological, thermal, and mechanical properties of ternary low density polyethylene (LDPE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), matrix nanocomposites were investigated in this study. Ethylene – Methyl acrylate – Glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer (E-MAGMA) and Ethylene – Butyl acrylate- Maleic anhydrate terpolymer (E-BA-MAH) were used as the compatibilizers. The organo...
Genetic algorithm for estimating multiphase flow functions from unsteady-state displacement experiments
Akın, Serhat (1998-04-30)
Relative permeability and capillary pressure are the primary flow parameters required to model multiphase flow in porous media. Frequently, these properties are estimated on the basis of unsteady state laboratory displacement experiments. Interpretation of the flood process to obtain relative permeability data is performed by one of two means: application of frontal advance theory or direct computer simulation. Application of frontal advance theory requires a number of experimental restrictions such that th...

We report on the fabrication and performance of vacuum-processed organic field effect transistors utilizing evaporated low-density polyethylene (LD-PE) as a dielectric layer. With C-60 as the organic semiconductor, we demonstrate low operating voltage transistors with field effect mobilities in excess of 4 cm(2)/Vs. Devices with pentacene showed a mobility of 0.16 cm(2)/Vs. Devices using tyrian Purple as semiconductor show low-voltage ambipolar operation with equal electron and hole mobilities of similar to...
On the electrical and charge conduction properties of thermally evaporated MoOx on n- and p-type crystalline silicon
GÜLNAHAR, MURAT; Nasser, Hisham; Salimi, Arghavan; Turan, Raşit (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-11-01)
In this work, the electrical and charge conduction characteristics of a contact structure featuring thermally evaporated MoOx, deposited on n- and p-type crystalline silicon (c-Si), are extensively investigated by room temperature current-voltage (I-V), transmission line measurements (TLM), and temperaturedependent current-voltage measurements (I-V-T). XRD diffraction spectrum shows that the deposited MoOx film exhibits amorphous nature. From TLM measurements, the values of contact resistivity are calculate...
Investigation of localized levels in GaS0.5Se0.5 layered crystals by means of electrical, space-charge limited current and photoconductivity measurements
Qasrawi, AF; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Wiley, 2002-11-16)
To identify the localized levels in GaS0.5Se0.5 single crystals, the dark electrical conductivity, current-voltage characteristics and photoconductivity measurements were carried out in the temperature range of 250-400 K. Temperature dependence of dark electrical conductivity and the space-charge limited current studies indicate the presence of a single discrete trapping level located at 0.31 eV below the conduction band with a density of about 1.3 x 10(15) cm(-3). The conductivity data above 320 K reveal a...
