Zirconia incorporated SBA-15 type mesoporous material was synthesized following a one pot hydrothermal route, characterized and used as the catalyst support in the synthesis of Ni and bi-metallic Ni W based catalysts. Performances of these catalysts were tested in steam reforming of AcOH. Catalytic activity tests proved that the performances of SBA-15 and Zr-SBA-15 supported Ni based catalysts were highly stable and they also showed very high activity in steam reforming of acetic acid, giving complete conversion at temperatures over 700 degrees C. Product distributions were shown to be strongly influenced by the composition of the catalyst. In the case of 5Ni@Zr-SBA-15, syngas produced at 750 degrees C contained about 54% H-2, 22% CO, 20% CO2 and 4% CH4. These results indicated that decarboxylation reaction of AcOH to CH4 and CO2 was minimized over this catalyst. Results were considered to be highly promising for the production of hydrogen rich syngas. It was most interesting to observe that modification of this catalyst by the addition of tungsten caused significant changes in the product distribution. For instance, syngas produced over 5Ni-50W@Zr-SBA-15 at the same reaction conditions, contained equimolar quantities of H2 and CO (about 47.5% each) with very small amounts of CO2 and CH4 (about 3% and 2%, respectively). Production of a syngas with such a composition was considered to be highly attractive from the point of view of a resource gas for dimethyl ether and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Effect of silver encapsulation on the local structure of titanosilicate ETS-10
GALIOGLU, Sezin; ZAHMAKIRAN, Mehmet; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Özkar, Saim; Akata, Burcu (2012-09-01)
Silver(0) nanoparticles stabilized by titanosilicate (ETS-10) framework were synthesized by following a simple two step procedure involving the incorporation of silver(I) (Ag+) ions into ETS-10 matrix via ion-exchange with extra framework Na+ and K+ cations followed by their reduction with sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in aqueous medium all at room temperature. Silver(0) nanoparticles dispersed in the ETS-10 matrix were collected as gray powders and characterized by using advanced analytical methods including ...
Catalytic performances of Ni and Cu impregnated MCM-41 and Zr-MCM-41 for hydrogen production through steam reforming of acetic acid
Cakiryilmaz, Nurbanu; ARBAĞ, HÜSEYİN; OKTAR, NURAY; DOĞU, GÜLŞEN; Doğu, Timur (2019-02-15)
A new mesoporous catalyst support material was synthesized by incorporation of zirconia into the structure of MCM-41 through a one-pot procedure. Catalytic performances of MCM-41 and Zr incorporated MCM-41 (25Zr-MCM-41) supported Ni or Cu catalysts were investigated in steam reforming of acetic acid reaction, at 750 degrees C. Some deformation in the ordered pore structure of MCM-41 was observed as a result of Zr incorporation. The activity test results showed that the catalytic performances of the zirconia...
Effect of process control agents on synthesizing nano-structured 2Mg-9Ni-Y catalyst by mechanical milling and its catalytic effect on desorption capacity of MgH2
Hosseini-Gourajoubi, Faranak; Pourabdoli, Mehdi; Üner, Deniz; Raygan, Shahram (2015-03-01)
Synthesizing 2Mg-9Ni-Y catalyst was investigated by mechanical alloying of Mg, Ni, and Y elemental powder mixture and subsequent heat treatment. Accordingly, effects of milling time, process control agent (PCA) type (stearic acid and toluene), and heat treatment time on the powder microstructure, phase composition, and powder morphology were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and laser particle size analyzer (LPSA). Results showed that particle size of the samples prepar...
Performance comparison of mesoporous alumina supported Cu & Ni based catalysts in acetic acid reforming
Karaman, Birce Pekmezci; Cakiryilmaz, Nurbanu; ARBAĞ, HÜSEYİN; OKTAR, NURAY; DOĞU, GÜLŞEN; Doğu, Timur (2017-10-19)
Steam reforming of acetic acid (AcOH) was investigated over mesoporous alumina supported mono- and bi-metallic Ni and/or Cu based catalysts. Results obtained with mesoporous alumina supported catalysts were compared with another set of experiments performed using a commercial Cu Zn based HifuelR-120 catalyst and Ni impregnated HifuelR-120. Comparison of catalytic performances of Cu and Ni based catalysts showed that Cu activated the decomposition of AcOH giving mainly CH4 and CO2, while Ni was highly active...
Effect of impact modifier on the properties of poly (ethylene terephthalate)-organoclay nanocomposites
Yılmazer, Ülkü; Alyamac, Elif (2006-11-30)
The effects of component concentrations and addition order of the components, on the final properties of ternary nanocomposites composed of amorphous poly (ethylene terephthalate) matrix, organically modified clay, and an ethylene / methyl acrylate / glycidyl methacrylate (E-MAGMA) terpolymer were studied. All formulations were prepared by melt compounding of the components with a two-step mixing procedure in a corotating twin-screw extruder. Considering the X-Ray Diffraction, SEM, impact and strain at brea...
