Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (HNRNPA1) gene maps to chromosome 12, plus strand and has 13 exons and 12 introns. There are three reported transcripts due to the alternative splicing. HNRNPA1 is one of the most abundant and ubiquitously expressed nuclear proteins. HNRNPA1 is a member of RNA-binding protein family comprising of 20 members in humans (Dreyfuss, 1993; Pinol-Roma, Choi, Matunis, & Dreyfuss, 1988). HNRNPA1 has diverse roles in RNA splicing, telomere length maintenance, miRNA maturation and mRNA transport from nucleus to cytoplasm.

SNX3 (Sorting Nexin 3)
Çiçek, Esra; Öyken, Merve; Cingoz, Harun; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif (2020-01-01)
© 2020 Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.Sorting Nexin 3 (SNX3) gene maps to chromosome 6, minus strand and has 4 exons and 3 introns. There are 3 alternatively spliced isoforms (transcripts). SNX3 is a member of the sorting nexin family. Members of this family generally have BAR domains and phosphoinositide binding regions called the phox (PX) domain, and are involved in intracellular trafficking. Unlike other sorting nexins, SNX3 does not contain a BAR domain. SNX3 protein int...
Excitation Localization/Delocalization Isomerism in a Strongly Coupled Covalent Dimer of 1,3-Diphenylisobenzofuran
Schrauben, Joel N.; Akdağ, Akın; Wen, Jin; Havlas, Zdenek; Ryerson, Joseph L.; Smith, Millie B.; Michl, Josef; Johnson, Justin C. (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2016-05-26)
Two isomers of both the lowest excited singlet (S-1) and triplet (T-1) states of the directly para, para'-connected covalent dimer of the singlet-fission chromophore 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran have been observed. In one isomer, excitation is delocalized over both halves of the dimer, and in the other, it is localized on one or the other half. For a covalent dimer in solution, such "excitation isomerism" is extremely rare. The vibrationally relaxed isomers do not interconvert, and their photophysical properti...
Enantioselective Friedel-Crafts alkylation of indole with nitroalkenes in the presence of bifunctional squaramide organocatalysts
Dündar, Esra; Tanyeli, Cihangir (2021-01-01)
A series of chiral bifunctional quinine and 2-aminoDMAP based squaramide organocatalysts are evaluated in Friedel-Crafts alkylation of indoles with nitroolefins. These 3-substituted indole derivatives are synthesized in the presence of sterically encumbered tert-butyl squaramide/quinine with high enantioselectivity (up to >99% ee) and moderate chemical yields (up to 80%) by representing as chiral precursors for very important biologically active molecules. Besides, this asymmetric transformation provides a ...
An Investigation of HNRNPA1 functions in breast cancer
Özgül, İbrahim; Erson Bensan, Ayşe Elif; Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (2019)
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (HNRNPA1) is an RNA-binding protein with a broad range of functions including transcriptional and translational regulation of mRNAs, transport of mRNAs from the nucleus, alternative splicing, telomere maintenance, and miRNA processing. Among all, miRNA related functions of HNRNPA1 are the least understood. Hence, in this study, we aim to investigate potential miRNAs regulated by HNRNPA1.Using HNRNPA1-silenced MCF7 cells, we identified several notable miRNAs using N...
