Operator Splitting of the KdV-Burgers Type Equation with Fast and Slow Dynamics
Karasözen, Bülent (2010-11-27)
The Korteweg de Vries-Burgers (KdV-Burgers) type equation arising from the discretization of the viscous Burgers equation with fast dispersion and slow diffusion is solved using operator splitting. The dispersive and diffusive parts are discretized in space by second order conservative finite differences. The resulting system of ordinary differential equations are composed using the time reversible Strang splitting. The numerical results reveal that the periodicity of the solutions and the invariants of the...
Invariant subspaces of positive operators on riesz spaces and observations on cd0(K)-spaces
Çağlar, Mert; Ercan, Zafer; Department of Mathematics (2005)
The present work consists of two main parts. In the first part, invariant subspaces of positive operators or operator families on locally convex solid Riesz spaces are examined. The concept of a weakly-quasinilpotent operator on a locally convex solid Riesz space has been introduced and several results that are known for a single operator on Banach lattices have been generalized to families of positive or close-to-them operators on these spaces. In the second part, the so-called generalized Alexandroff dupl...
Invariant subspaces for positive operators acting on a Banach space with Markushevich basis
Ercan, Z; Onal, S (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2004-06-01)
We introduce 'weak quasinilpotence' for operators. Then, by substituting 'Markushevich basis' and 'weak quasinilpotence at a nonzero vector' for 'Schauder basis' and 'quasinilpotence at a nonzero vector', respectively, we answer a question on the invariant subspaces of positive operators in [ 3].
