Inactivation of Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes in milk and cream of chicken soup by high hydrostatic pressure and bacteriocins

2002-06-01
By the application of HHP; 5.50 and 5.70 log cycle reduction was obtained for S. aureus 485, in milk and cream of chicken soup samples, respectively. Storage of HHP treated milk samples for 24 h at 4degreesC gave positive result for S. aureus 765 where no growth was observed for L. monocytogenes strains. Incubation of food samples for an additional 48 h at 37degreesC showed growth of L. monocytogenes strains as S. aureus strains. When a bacteriocin-based biopreservative (BP1) was combined with pressurization more than 8 log-cycle reduction in cell population of the resistant strains of S. aureus and L. monocytogenes was achieved in milk. Milk and cream of chicken soup samples were stored at 25degreesC and milk samples showed no growth up to 30 day where as Gram-positive bacterial strains in cream of chicken showed growth after 3 days with a rapid increase in cell number thereafter.

Recovery of Escherichia coli O157 : H7 and Salmonella in milk and cream of chicken soup from high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) and bacteriocin applications upon storage
Alpas, Hami (2002-06-01)
By the application of HHP; more than 8 log cycle reduction was achieved for E. coli O157:H7 933 and Salmonella FDA in milk and cream of chicken soup in 5 min. Storage of HHP treated milk samples showed absence of both bacteria for 24 h at 4degreesC and for 48 h at 37degreesC. The population of the strains in cream of chicken soup exceeded their initial value after 5 days of storage at 25degreesC. BP1 was combined with HHP and used for inhibition of surviving bacterial species in cream of chicken soup. There...
Discrete approaches in evolution strategies based optimum design of steel frames
Hasançebi, Oğuzhan (2007-05-30)
The three different approaches (reformulations) of evolution strategies (ESs) have been proposed in the literature as extensions of the technique for solving discrete problems. This study implements an extensive research on application, evaluation and comparison of them in discrete optimum design of steel frames. A unified formulation is first developed to explain these approaches, so that differences and similarities between their inherent search mechanisms can clearly be identified. Two examples from prac...
Theoretical aspects of some 4-[2,6-substituted-9H-purin-9-yl]-2-cyclopentene-1-methanol derivatives as anti-HIV agents
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Sudagidan, M (2000-01-01)
Some (-)-(1S,4R) -4-[2-amino-6-(substituted)-9H-purin-9-yl]-2-cyclopentene-1-methanol derivatives have been considered for semiempirical treatment at the level of AM1 type calculations. Certain theoretical structure-activity relationship were investigated.
Coupling Analysis of Resonating Metamaterial Slabs for The Role of EMC Problems
HASAR, UĞUR CEM; BUTE, MUSA; Muratoğlu, Abdurrahim (2017-09-27)
It is well-known that a resonating metamaterial can interact with other nearby resonating metamaterials. If this coupling is strong enough, it may change resonant behaviour of overall metamaterial structure composed of individual metamaterial resonators. Therefore, defining each part separately, especially the coupling factor, simplifies the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems. In this study, our purpose is to investigate/disclose the coupling phenomenon by application of the signal flow graph tech...
Use of the dynamic volume spline method to predict facial soft tissue changes associated with orthognathic surgery
Ulusoy, İlkay; Sabuncuoglu, Fidan; GÖRGÜLÜ, SERKAN; ÜÇOK, CEMİLE ÖZLEM (Elsevier BV, 2010-11-01)
Objective. The shape of the face can be estimated before the surgery by using 3-dimensional computer programs that provide tools to guide skill modifications. The aim of this study was to present the dynamic volume spline method to predict facial soft tissue changes after the modification of the skull associated with orthognathic surgery.
