In this study, applicability of oil production from oil shales by steam recovery in a three-dimensional (3-D) reservoir model was investigated. Four different oil shale samples from several fields (Seyitomer, Beypazan, Himmetoglu and Hatildag) were used. 3-D steam injection experiments showed that steam injection was insufficient to drive oil production for the oil shale samples studied, and it was concluded that the steam injection process is not feasible in these oil shale fields.

Change of physical and thermal decomposition properties of in situ heavy oil with steam temperature
Karacan, CO; Okandan, E (Informa UK Limited, 1997-01-01)
Ikiztepe crude oil was subjected to four different steam temperatures during steam injection which was applied as an enhanced oil recovery process on a linear limestone model saturated with oil. Produced oils were characterized using density, viscosity measurements, pyrolysis experiments utilizing TGA and elemental analysis runs. Results showed that produced crude oils change in measured characteristics as compared to the original oil. These changes include an increase in H/C, and cracking activation energy...
3-d model studies of alkaline flooding using horizontal wells
Bağcı, Ali Suat (Informa UK Limited, 2004-07-02)
In this study, the effect of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution for the improved oil recovery of Garzan (26degreesAP1) crude oil was investigated using two different laboratory models. The effect of injection rate on oil recovery was investigated using a one-dimensional unconsolidated limestone reservoir model. The effect of horizontal and vertical well configurations on oil recovery was also studied using a 3-D physical model and various well configurations. As previously studied, the interfacial tension mea...
An Investigation of the Applicability of the In-situ Thermal Recovery Technique to the Beypazari Oil Shale
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
In this research, a 3-D reservoir model for steam recovery was used to study Beypazari oil shale. In addition, the reaction kinetics parameters of Beypazari oil shale were determined by using the Weijdema's reaction kinetics approach in order to evaluate the applicability of these thermal methods. In the analysis of reaction kinetics experiments, two different temperature regions were observed. In the time versus temperature graph, linearly increasing the temperature zone was considered to be the fuel depos...
Economical Evaluation of an Oil Field Reservoir
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
In this study, economical evaluation of an oil field reservoir was performed using software. The software used in this study consists of different sub-programs to determine recoverable oil, recovery factor, initial and final productions, production rates, and original oil and gas in place for different types of reservoirs. Recovery efficiency was found to be 29% for water drive and 4.78% for solution gas drive reservoirs. In decline curve analysis, initial and final production rates were obtained as 40 and ...
Feasibility study of heavy oil field
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
In this study, application of different enhanced tertiary oil recovery methods were applied considering fluid properties and reservoir characteristics of the heavy oil field. Effect of different oil and inflation rates were analyzed considering project economic life, pay out time, cash flow, and profit to investment ratio for steam flooding and CO2 methods. CO2 injection is found to be more profitable than the steam injection due to the high cost of steam injection operations and reservoir depth.
