Feasibility study of heavy oil field

2008-01-01
In this study, application of different enhanced tertiary oil recovery methods were applied considering fluid properties and reservoir characteristics of the heavy oil field. Effect of different oil and inflation rates were analyzed considering project economic life, pay out time, cash flow, and profit to investment ratio for steam flooding and CO2 methods. CO2 injection is found to be more profitable than the steam injection due to the high cost of steam injection operations and reservoir depth.

Economical Evaluation of an Oil Field Reservoir
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
In this study, economical evaluation of an oil field reservoir was performed using software. The software used in this study consists of different sub-programs to determine recoverable oil, recovery factor, initial and final productions, production rates, and original oil and gas in place for different types of reservoirs. Recovery efficiency was found to be 29% for water drive and 4.78% for solution gas drive reservoirs. In decline curve analysis, initial and final production rates were obtained as 40 and ...
Characterization and Development of Drilling Fluid Type for an Oil Field
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
In this study, different types of drilling fluids are developed and analyzed for a mature oil field. The optimum conditions were developed for shallow and deep formations. The experimental procedure that was followed for viscosity, fluid loss, density, and pH calculations is based on the standards dictated by API RP 13B. At the end of the experiments, it was also observed that for shallow depths, 0.2-0.3 lb of caustic soda will be enough for one barrel of drilling fluid. On the other hand, lignosulphanate t...
Comparative study of PV/PEM fuel cell hybrid energy system based on methanol and water electrolysis
Budak, Yagmur; DEVRİM, YILSER (Elsevier BV, 2019-01-01)
In this study, we investigated the comparative analysis of a solar-fuel cell hybrid system based on water and methanol electrolysis. The proposed system comprises PV, electrolyzer and proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The hybrid system is designed to supply the hydrogen (H-2) needed of the PEMFC system and also to fulfill the H-2 requirement of other applications. The actual data of solar irradiation of Izmir, Turkey are used in the simulation. The methanol and water electrolyzers were designed fo...
The Application of Water-flood Technology for Different Oil Fields
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
Water-flooding is perhaps the most common method of secondary recovery, in which water is injected into the reservoir formation to displace residual oil. The water from injection wells physically sweeps the displaced oil to adjacent production wells. In this study, three different fields from different locations were studied for a possible water-flooding operation using software. Through the results obtained from the application, certain predictions were obtained about the water-flood performance of the oil...
Application of vapex process for light crude oil
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Akın, Serhat (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
The objective of this study is to investigate the applicability of Vapex process on Garzan crude oil. Experiments were performed with Hele-Shaw cell using two different solvents (propane and butane) at three different injection rates (20,40, and 80ml/min). For both Vapex solvents, oil production rates increased with injection rates for Garzan crude oil. Instantaneous asphaltene rate for Garzan oil showed fluctuated performance with propane solvent. Butane showed almost constant degree of asphaltene precipit...
