ELECTRON POLARIZATION IN A QUANTUM-WELL WITH UNIFORM ELECTRIC-FIELD
ILAIWI, KF; Tomak, Mehmet (1991-06-01)
The polarization of a quantum electron confined in a one-dimensional potential well in the presence of a uniform electric field is calculated numerically. We find that the negative polarization of the first excited state in previous calculations is solely due to the neglect of the electric field outside the quantum well.
ELECTRON POLARIZATION IN A PARABOLIC QUANTUM-WELL WITH UNIFORM ELECTRIC-FIELD
ILAIWI, KF; Tomak, Mehmet (1991-01-01)
The polarization of a quantum electron confined in a parabolic quantum well in the presence of a uniform electric field is calculated numerically. We find positive polarization for both ground and the first excited states.
ELECTRON POLARIZATION IN QUANTUM-WELLS WITH UNIFORM ELECTRIC-FIELD
ILAIWI, KF; Tomak, Mehmet (Wiley, 1991-08-01)
The polarization of a quantum electron confined in square, parabolic, and triangular quantum wells is calculated numerically. The aim of the present calculations is to compare the results for various geometries.
Electron transport in p-wave superconductor-normal metal junctions
Keleş, Ahmet; Spivak, B. Z. (2014-01-01)
We study low-temperature electron transport in p-wave superconductor-insulator-normal metal junctions. In diffusive metals, the p-wave component of the order parameter is strongly suppressed at distances greater than the mean free path l. At the superconductor-normal metal boundary, due to spin-orbit interaction, there is a triplet to singlet conversion of the superconducting order parameter. The singlet component survives at distances much larger than l from the boundary. It is this component that controls...
