A broadband (1.71-2.17 GHz), high isolation, and dual-polarized suspended plate antenna (SPA) is presented. Modified L-probe feed is used for broadband matching and capacitive coupling. Port isolation between two orthogonally polarized channels is improved by making extensions on suspended plates (SPs) and inserting a vertical ungrounded square tube under the first SP (SP1). The prototyped SPA resulted in 8 +/- 0.5 dBi gain and 67 degrees +/- 66 degrees symmetric E-plane and H-plane radiation patterns with low cross-polarization levels. Return losses <=-15 dB and port isolation <=-30 dB are achieved in the entire band. (C) 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

SINGLE-, DUAL-, AND TRIPLE-BAND METAMATERIAL-INSPIRED ELECTRICALLY SMALL PLANAR MAGNETIC DIPOLE ANTENNAS
Turkmen, Oznur; Sayan, Gönül; Ziolkowski, Richard W. (Wiley, 2014-01-01)
The design and performance characteristics of metamaterial-inspired electrically small, single, dual and triple band antennas at the GSM (1.93-1.99 GHz), ISM (2.43-2.4835 GHz), and WiMAX (3.3-3.6 GHz) frequencies are reported. These antennas are based on a coaxially fed printed dipole integrated in a planar configuration with capacitively loaded loops (CLLs) as its near-field resonant parasitic radiators. In the proposed topology, the number of operating frequencies is determined by the number of CLLs. Thes...
Dual-Polarization Wideband Sub-6 GHz Suspended Patch Antenna for 5G Base Station
Ciydem, Mehmet; Miran, Emre A. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2020-07-01)
This letter presents a simple, compact, low-cost, low-profile, dual-polarization, suspended patch antenna design to operate in 3.3-3.8 GHz band for 5G base stations. The proposed antenna comprises a main radiating patch, a secondary parasitic patch, modified L-probe feeds, and a vertical metal wall. The main patch is capacitively driven by two feeds for dual (+/- 45 degrees slant) polarization. The vertical metal wall is used to increase the port isolation. The parasitic patch also helps further improvement...

We propose a microwave imaging structure with GSM, ISM, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX operating frequencies at 1.80, 2.45, and 5.80 GHz, respectively. The suggested structure is based on a microwave antenna-inspired absorber with cavities in resonator layers. Our study, which is validated using simulation and experimental techniques, deals with the absorption of the incident electromagnetic waves at 1.80, 2.45, and 5.80 GHz for creating the image when radio frequency microwave is employed. The above-mentioned three oper...
QWIP focal plane arrays on InP substrates for single and dual band thermal imagers
Eker, S. U.; Arslan, Y.; Kaldirim, M.; Beşikci, Cengiz (Elsevier BV, 2009-11-01)
Alternative material systems on InP substrate provide certain advantages for mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR), long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) and dual band MWIR/LWIR quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) focal plane arrays (FPAs). While InP/InGaAs and InP/InGaAsP LWIR QWIPs provide much higher responsivity, when compared to the AlGaAs/CaAs QWIPs, AllnAs/InGaAs system facilitates completely lattice matched single band MWIR and dual band MWIR/LWIR FPAs.
High responsivity InP-InGaAs quantum-well infrared photodetectors: Characteristics and focal plane array performance
Cellek, OO; Ozer, S; Beşikci, Cengiz (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2005-07-01)
We report the detailed characteristics of long-wavelength infrared InP-In0.53Ga0.47As quantum-well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs) and 640 x 512 focal plane array (FPA) grown by molecular beam epitaxy. For reliable assessment of the detector performance, characterization was performed on test detectors of the same size and structure with the FPA pixels. Al0.27Ga0.73As-GaAs QWIPs with similar spectral response (lambda(p) = similar to 7.8 mu m) were also fabricated and characterized for comparison. InP-InGaAs...
